Anyone got any suspension advice . Here goes , I’ve had the repslow 2016 since new , covered 15k Ont clock but I don’t why but of late it feels like the front end is bobbing up and down far too much for my liking . It’s always stored off the ground when not in use on a 1 Jac lift . Suspension settings have been same since leaving the factory . I was told the front tyre has not worn evenly. As we never do the exact same right hand roundabouts junctions , corners etc etc so got a new tyre and still same . Anyone got settings for someone around 15 stone with full riding gear . Or other advice as to why I fell like I’m on a bone shaker only last thing to check is front tyre pressure. I usually run at 36 from 40 back . Not sure what person changed tyre have actually put in the front
At 15k I would have changed the fork oil at least once by then as pretty rubbish oil from the factory anyway. Headstock bearings are worth a look also as I’ve known them to have play by that mileage also. I’d be looking more at the two above more than the tyre pressures unless the fitter has got it so massively wrong?
It’s been to Honda for servicing from new , nobody has ever mentioned changing fork oil , is that a Honda only job , not sure who else could do it ?
Going by you’re other post and where you get it serviced, I’m really not surprised they haven’t mentioned it! The service book may mention a time or mileage it has to be done? To be honest! It’s crap low budget oil from new and the compromise your suspension has to cover is something like 10-15 stone? plenty of suspension company’s about mate and all better than where you get yours serviced.
I've just had my forks serviced. Recomend Colin Leeder at 100% suspension. does lot of bsb/trackday support - i dropped mine off at my local circuit and he posted back. Copy of email for approx price (mine is a 2010 blade). +447715490888 [email protected] a routine service is £140...by routine we mean a normal service with oil, labour and inner dust seals, other parts like outer dust seals and inner bushes are not something we routinely change unless expressly asked but we inspect and if within tolerances there is no reason to change them so why incur the expense but if they all need doing this could add £40 to that cost, if we post back postage is £18
Quick update headstock bearings checked , and all fine so all front fork suspension settings checked . All as per maintenance manual . The conclusion now is the fork oil needs changing . What’s disappointing is the bike has been serviced at Honda from new . Nobody has ever mentioned it needs doing , even tho the maintenance manual says every 3 yrs or 20k whichever comes soonest . So now I need to find someone to do it . I’m not confident taking bike to bits and sending forks off . Need somewhere I can ride the bike to and leave it with them to complete
Fork oil getting old shouldn't make that much difference. Do the forks have a slow leak? People don't usually bother until the seals go and it leaks all over the fork bottom.
Maybe try a independent bike workshop they are usually cheaper than a main dealer and in most cases do a better job.
