    Hi all, I have a 2006 fireblade 1000rr.
Parked up for 2 weeks, got it out and it was dead. Battery shot, but installed new one and started up first time but turned key off and bike still running, even removed the key and still running. Unplugged ignition plug and still live. No idea how or what it is. Anyone have this issue or any idea what's caused it before I pull it to bits.

Sounds like the switch in the ignition barrel is stuck in the on position. I assume that the kill switch turns the engine off?

Not sure, I can kill the engine with the kill switch, but I can unplug the ignition and still have power to lights, fuel pump the lot

    Yes that's the confusing bit.
I've just gone through the wiring diagram and it shows the ignition barrel as a 2 pin plug, with both wires coming straight from the fuse box. One wire being the +12v Live going to the ignition switch and the other wire being the switched live out from the ignition barrel which feeds fuses A, B C & D in the fuse box.
On that basis I would measure the resistance between both ignition wires with the battery disconnected to check for a short between the 2 ignition barrel wires all the way back to the fuse box.

Let me know if you don't have the diagram and I'll send it to you.
    Low res version:-

Much appreciated. I've been told the relay could be at fault to

I'm not sure which relay could cause this fault as the only ones in the diagram are starter, fan, engine stop and fuel cut off.
