As a few of you know, I bought a private plate on retention for my bike around a mth ago. When I received the retention certificate, I went to my local DVLA office to transfer it to my bike. Although the form was signed by the seller granting me permission to have the plate in my name, I was informed he didn't sign the bit where it grants me as official owner. After repeated emails to him, he said he had signed it in the correct place and told me to just go to the DVLA. I replied again telling him that I did that, and they told me he needed to sign again in the other box. I heard nothing, so I contacted a mate who lives near him ( the seller) to take the form to his house for him to sign in the right place. That was a week ago. My mate hasn't received the form, I sent it first class, so it looks like I'm down £200 odd. apparently, the DVLA do issue a replacement retention certificate, but at a cost of £25. I've emailed the seller, explaining I'm a complete berk for losing the certificate in the hope that he will apply for a new certificate at my cost of course, but I don't hold out much hope. My stupid fault for sending it first class instead of special delivery, and a lesson learnt.
What a ball ache! Sure it will turn up mate, sure he ain't just got it in a pile of his own letter...
Moody buzz! I hate the post... It's amazing how often the balls up stuff at work, even recorded / special delivery, bet it still turns up though...
