as im away next week my mates gonna service my bike so i thought i"d take a few pics of his collection.
my old first fs1e was the same colours just trying to find some old pics . That one has a different front end should be drums.later Dx model had disc brakes in 79.That colours was I believe 76 to 78.Luv em.
Could nt get a new fizzee in Sept 77.......just when the gov de restricted mopeds..... so had to settle for one of the last Honda s SS50 five speed TFH 522R.....pre reg.
Good times i had one the same as the 1st one paid £180 for it and it was mint wish i still had it. I have had a couple of older bikes and restored them rd250 1978 and dt250 1980. Someone was telling me the bottom will fall out of the fizzys and the other late 70s bikes because the next generation wont no anything about them and will want what ever model was about in there time???
That brings back some great memories. I didn’t have a FS1E but my mate had one. I had the metallic blue Suzuki AP50 which was much faster LOL. I loved that AP50 and my first chance of freedom of the road, feet on rear pegs, chest on tank, elbows tucked in, Griffin clubman resting on the clock flat out 49mph and if you were lucky more down hill with the wind behind you. Nice one Dave.
Purple deffo quicker than the yellows, used to go to Watford College on mine. Better than the blue suzooks that the squares all had...
couldnt afford a fsie when younger so bought ap50 off a neighbour for £20 when i was 15 and rebuilt it in bedroom ready for my 16th birthday. 65cc big bore kit ,trimmed down reed valve. they were the days!! anyone one with a fsie now is sitting on a little gold mine!!
Ah the old FS1E, like others have said, brings back memories. As does the AP50. My mates AP had a knackered spark plug thread so it always fired the spark plug out of the head, LoL. One of my mates put a YB100 (I think??) engine in his Fizzy. That was a hoot! The fun we had on these bikes, Those days are long gone now.
I was a mere hanger on to the AP50 crowd. Both my mates had them and they (and I, vicariously) looked down upon the FS1E community with disdain. I aspired to, but was too skint to join their ranks but an accident of birth meant that while I was in the same year as them in school, I was very nearly in the year above. This meant that I was 17 shortly after they were 16 and picked up a Suzuki K10 80cc motorbike for £20, stripped it, tarted and put it back together for another £20 and then looked down upon the lot of them as just moped riders. He who dies with the most toys wins...
My best mate and his twin brother both got one each but my mam and dad would not sign for me ,which was a bummer at the time.but i spent a lot of time riding with him either me driving with him on the back or visa versa. Can't remember if a licence was needed ibut i had none and i now we used to travel into town on Saturday night to the local skaking ring which had a disco we would be wearing black pants jacket white shirt and no helmets even in winter (Whats that all about) it must have been freezing .
