i recently purchased a 2008 fireblade with less than 2000 miles on the clock.
bike is mint, but have to say i dont find the clutch is very smooth, and the gear selection seems really clunky.
has anyone else experienced this? Are there any known problems with this?
My other bike is a triumph T595, and i have to say i have been surprised and dissapointed with this aspect of the fireblade. it is not what i would have expected from a honda.

I also have a 2008 model. going into first gives that usual honda clunk and 1st - 2nd is good but not perfect. but apart from that i have no complaints at all

your right, selecting first is clunky, and first to second isn't that smooth.
i am really pleased with the blade, but was just surprised with this aspect, my perception was that the Honda would be much smoother and more sophisticated in this area.

Mine was a bit clunky when new. The only other issue is sometimes I miss 6th gear. I think I've just been I bit lazy with the shift. Its like there is a bit of a false neutral there. Happened few times. Now I just make sure I put a of effort into shift.

Same here - False neutral a few times between 5th and 6th, when I am being lazy and at low revs... Now I just make sure to put some effort into the shift, as you say...
