Guys, been a long term lurker and found the site really helpful. I'm now in a financial position that I have 4-5k to spend on a bike.
I'm now being offered the above two bikes, both have circa 10k on the clock and both are very tidy. The GSXR is £750 more expensive.

Will it be more expensive to insure? And what are they like to live with on the road?

I was really after a blue GSXR750, but there seems to be more litre bikes about to choose from.

I know this is a blade forum, but I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has had experience of both bikes. I will only be using them as weekend toys and defo won't be taking either on the track.

Both very good bikes. The only thing that puts me of GSXR's is how common they are. For good reason though i'm sure.

I don't think I've ever experienced as much mid range as I have on a blade to be fair. Which is what you want on the road IMO.

Certainly don't want to scare myself too much, not a mad rider at all, just something more. The GSXR750 would be ideal, physically big enough, but fast enough.
Dave-d, I can't see that page, which Facebook group is it registered on?

The GSXR was probably a bit more fun, but also more likely to get me in trouble, I also felt the Blade handled much better, like it was part of me.

    I've owned both, well an 04 blade and a k7 GSXR1000.

Both are great road bike, I'd go for which is ever is in the best condition for the lowest price.

On looks I would go for the 06 blade
    Quality the blade
The gixer feels a bit more hooligan like and feels quicker when riding it but the power is about the same.

I have a friend with an 08 gixer and one with an 05 gixer, I ride an 05 blade and speed is all about the same, they are better riders than me and leave me on corners but they leave me when we swap bikes also so the handling is pretty similar also but I found the blade easier to throw into the corners at my level of riding but then this could also be because I'm used to it

    I have owned a K3 1000 and a K5 1000 Gixer and now the 09 Blade.
The Gixers were both brilliant bikes with plenty of midrange and loads of grunt, however the handling and brakes on the 09 Blade is night and day better, with pretty much the same midrange.
I know you are looking at an 06 Blade so I can't give a direct comparison, however I only paid £5495 for a 1 owner 10k mile Blade and I have seen a number of them the last few weeks for around £4800-£5000.
The K5/K6 is reputed to be a better bike than the K7/K8 in standard form due to Suzuki strangling them for noise and emissions but after removing the CAT and sorting out the fuelling they can be put right. For that money you will get a nice Gixer. Don't dismiss the K3/4 or K5/6 as they are very good.
Personally, the suspension and brakes are miles better on the standard 09 Blade than a K5 but I've not ridden a K7/8.
After riding an L4 Gixer 1000 with big piston forks then getting back on the K5 I pulled over within a mile to check I didn't have a front tyre puncture!!!! :)

I'd try and stretch the funds and go for an 08-10 Blade
