Hi everyone, just trying to work out what to get for the blade to improve my hates with it haha quite a few bits and on mine its got a real lack of response on it on the throttle and the darn flat spot bellow 4.5 k drives me bonkers especially at around 40-50mph lots of average speed cameras round my way so you end up stuck in 2nd at that sort of rev range where the throttle just feels so sloppy coming from a 675's where it just has seamless waves of torque anywhere with instant response, its like a massive slap in the face can't believe the trumpet doesn't have it at 7 grand and the 12 grand blade has a big flatspot haha think the big H would get it right from the off shame such a thing can wreck the experience of the bike love the rest of the bike mind especially the reliability so whats everyone think I should do upgrade wise while I've got the bike in bits Flapper mod in the intakes anyone know if anyone does any better aftermarket ones are they worth it? most definatley putting an Arrow exhaust system on of some sort either the road legal one with the carbon tip or a Trophy maybe, always prefer road legal -1 on the front sprocket and a 520 conversion (would anyone go + something on the rear or is that enough) motor feels really flat to me would love to try and get some more punch but without it becoming to wheelie prone out of the bends thinking power pures instead of my interact k3's just fancy a bit of a change had those on my gixer 6 k9 and it really livened it up a brembo rcs master cylinder - hel lines and sbs pads (do you need the new fluid reservoir or can the standard one be used ?) bomachi rearsets to sort the body position out __ then save a little and the next wave pcv + o2 eliminator and maybe the sfm what's everyone's opinion on the sfm know it can be used for the quickshifter which I might put on my race bikes has got one so would be nice then Maxton for the fork conversion and new rear shock at some point in the future anything Ive missed? all opinions welcome Thanks a load, Tom
Your bike shouldn't have any noticable flat spots in the standard trim. Where did you buy it from. If a stealer, get em to sort it out! Plus two on the back will make it fly and wheelie if you're not careful! You will need a speedo healer though.
if your getting brand new suspension, go with any other than maxton, i have it on my rr7, and it may be ok, but not mind blowing, and i wouldnt personally pay maxton myself knowing that the likes of ohlins, ktec & bitubo are out there, if it were me id have an ohlins ttx or bitubo rea, with ktec ssk piston kit, weight matched springs & oil, yes to the brembo & HEL, use the same set up on mine.
The standard exhaust DOES give a flat spot at 3000 ish revs . Everybody reports this and the fix will be the arrow exhaust . Carfull when you first try it coz it does rip your arms off when the cat is gone . Huge improvement
I can't answer all of these points, but your rant about the power delivery and flat spots is pretty strange! This thing is the smoothest most tractable engine I've ever used (that statement applies to stock as well as with a pipe and PC or whatever). I think the improvement from dumping the stock can and cat are getting increasingly exaggerated as time goes by. I will concede that the stock gearing is too tall (for me anyway), so you might want to look at sprockets as a prority.
dont get me wrong I love absolutely love the blade when shes on the boil one of the best bikes I've ridden but compared to some others Ive had the pleasure of owning its the flattest boggiest bike ive had bellow 4.5 k, read all the reviews about how brill they are so guessing something must be up its definitely getting put on the dyno once its got a system on just to see if theres anything drastically wrong feels like there's a delay on the engine low down when you open the gas of about 2 seconds then it picks up is really bad bellow 4.5 k guessing it might be a stuck set valve or something like that which is exaggerating things sure Ill find out more as I get into the bike while I've got it apart what gearing you running mate? just trying to decide what to order in a moment :dirol:
mate... mines bog standad at the mo but not getting any of that!! its brutal out of corners and is picks up excellent low down, way better than everything ive ridden 675 is lovely on the power, but i'd say the blade is smoother imo and certainly not experienced and flat spots? one simple solution though - keep her above 4.5k ; )
I noticed the same thing as dan flat spot around 3-4000 with the STD can which disappeared with the race can and pcv fitted. It was more a hesitation in power, which coming from the R1 was noticeable. As soon as the cats gone it's the best, smoothest engine I have ever had the pleasure to thrash Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
All i can say is i don't have it much below 3000 revs except in the 30 etc so does not bother me that much, as with the suspension its f****** brilliant and does not need changed at all ...that is what i think anyway maybe i am not riding it fast enough....spend the extra money on tyres and fuel
nice one mate haha thought i was going stir crazy I think it depends what bike you've come from and how tuned in you are to them getting the bike plugged in on diagnostics in a week or two to make sure its ok how do you find the sprocket change Jamie enough or still fancy more? id say the suspension is good but not perfect by any means guess it depends if you've rode something with factory spec stuff like I have really shows the difference up haha Tom
It was defo there from 3-4000 when I went in to get the first service and have the can fitted, the dealer asked what I thought so I said about the flat spot, he said I was not the only one to give them that feedback and that the can would remove it. He was correct it was so much better and it responded the way you expected it to I hated the suspension to start off with I had ohlins rear and ktec front on the R1 and found the suspension to harsh, but I took my time setting up the sag then slowly 1/4 turn at a time played around now I am very happy with the std suspension, its amazing how the smallest adjustment can make a huge difference to the bike. The rear sprocket has altered the power delivery once again it is much more aggressive and loves to power wheelie now, however I find it more manageable as you know exactly what coming its very responsive, I wouldn't go any further with it as I think it might be to much of a handful
what you coming in at weight wise mate definately i found a massive improvement in it once I did the sag etc just still think i can coax some more handling out of it especially the rear shock Thanks, Tom
I totally agree even as standard my RR8 was very very smooth and tractable and I ve never had any complaints or problems. I have ditched the cat, std exhaust and std exhaust valve and now run a Arrow end can and if I m completely honest can't tell any difference at all apart from it looks better and sounds a little better but nothing night and day like some people seem to have experienced.
I am 13.5 stone about 14.5 kitted up (I know I am over weight, I am working on it ok ) After a day fiddling with the suspension at cadwell park the rear is spot on, the wear is perfect across the tyre and I felt supreamly comfortable with the bikes handling and response through the corners.... I am no expert, I am not the best or fastest rider and there are many more experienced road and track riders on here so I am just tryng to tell you how think it feels I maybe wrong but its just my opinion.
Honda have always had an issue with rear shocks on the big bikes, 4 or 5 hard laps and its done, im only doing mid 40's round cadwell but i can tell you i ruined my shock in that timeframe. Its the same with the current generation fireblade, Forks are ok (especially if you have them fetled with weight matched springs & oil) but the shock is gash, its the first thing ill be binning when i buy a project rr8/9/10 racer.
In all honesty, i`ve never noticed a flatspot at all... it pulls like a train from 1.5k all the way up, no hesitation whatsoever? I came from a custom tuned bike which did have a flatspot before it was mapped, and the Blade is way smoother and linear through the rev range. Thats why i am in 2 minds whether to slap an end can on.. I use it for commuting regularly and is in the 3-4k rev range quite a bit, with a bit of motorway/fast road thrown in. It's running perfect, maybe it's how they are run in or something??
I'm running a +2 sprocket at the rear (with the standard profile tyre). You might want to just try disconnecting the exhaust valve (EGCV) on the stock exhaust - it might feel better to you (I didn't like it disconnected myself, but running an LV can now so no EGCV). P.S. This bike is designed not to lift the front wheel easily, which can maybe contribute to a "flat" feeling?
mine was run in spot on haha I'd try it disconnected but seing theres not much left of the original can lmao its all coming off anyway know what you mean bout the wheel dont want it flying up as i prefer riding fast rather than pulling wheelies but my 675 never used to show its wheel in the air and that punched really hard haha reckon if I'd come from my gixer 6 rather than the 675 i wouldn't be nit picking so much LOL but those triples dont half punch hard going to sort a new shock out some internals in the forks - sprocket and get the arrow system pcv 5 and sprocket next long with the rearsets then decide what to do next
