Have you turned your bike into a bird table?

Hi, so looking in to this a bit more it would appear there is a more sportsbike focused version, and indeed a dedicated version for the 08+ blades. Given it just docks in exactly the same way the pillion seat does, this could be tempting. What do you think to this (click on the top image to see how it looks)

Sportrack Hepco&Becker - Honda CBR1000RR ABS '09-'11 [670.913] - €142.29 : KGL RACING SHOP, Motor en scooter onderdelen, Leovince dealer, motor uitlaten, Hepco & Becker dealer...

I've got a couple of Kreiga US10's and can see it may be simpler to strap these to this plate that going around the subframe and using webbing etc.

Doesn't get very good reviews does it?

It's not much use if it uses the same fixings as the OEM Pillion seat as this rocks about when luggage is fitted and indeed even bends upwards!

My Pillion seat now has a bow in it from strapping down the Kreiga gear!

Now if this 'Luggage Plate' actually bolted to the sub frame also then it would be ACE.

For the mo I'm supplementing the Kreiga straps with wrap around FASTY Straps under the Tail section, far sturdier!

This is a us10 with an Almax IV 1.5m chain (aka 'the thiefdrowner'),Squire lock and bike cover on board. The stuff doesn't shift, for Cliff's sake.

Yeah, that's all true but the pillion seat has a plastic base and plastic rear mount lugs. This has an all alloy base and fitting kit that should give it rigidity and a firm mounting. I dont know, I've tried all the gear now - ventura, kriega, , renntec - and still don't know what to do, still no closer to the perfect solution. I give up, a backpack next time?

I wouldn't put a lock in a rucksack, shipmate. That's asking for trouble in a prang.

And a fully loaded rucksack is tiring to wear over a long distance.

Tankbag? I love my us30 as a tankbag. I use it sideways on as a tailpack too. Top bag.

Hi,I can confirm this luggage rack is perfectly stable with a 15 kg ortlieb bag on it at 170 mph on German autobahn,it's rock solid. I've tried all sorts of luggage and can honestly say this is the best I've ever seen.

Have you got any UK supplier links TerryHawk?

The link on the previous page is a bit vague

£180 for the pair- the sportsbike plate and the enlargening plate. Feels a little rich to me but i may go for it anyway.

Terry, what size ortlieb did you strap to it, the large or XL. The Large is 49 litres i think and around 60cm wide. I was wondering if that was just too wide or OK?

That's it, hit the trigger. Mine is on its way.

Yes, not the prettiest thing but then I'll only use it when I carry luggage. When I'm done with the luggage, seat cowl straight back on in 5 secs flat.

Beauty of this system is no real weight limits. Both renntec and Ventura state about 5kg limits. With this kit, you could in theory take max pillion weight I guess.

View attachment 10169 That's right mate any weight,I just stick my seat hump in the bag and when you get where you're going your bike looks cool again not like a caravan haha..you won't be disappointed with it..when you fit the lock mechanism pay close attention to the diagram as its offset by 5 mm,it's not immediately obvious until you get it wrong...curse....swear.....jump up and down....have a hissy fit etc etc like I did

Might see if I can get that made locally! :D

As said £220 or whatever that equates to is a hell of a lot for what it is.

    Brilliant idea though aint it?
