1000rr.co.uk 2013 European Run. Good evening. After reading through this you may get a feeling of Deja Vu, for which i extend my apologies, but please read on, and hopefully all will become a little clearer? As a few of you know, I was planning to put together a forum ride out in June to travel around Europe, namely Andorra and its surround areas for eight days. A lot of interest was generated, with a large amount of information and hints given from others who are seasoned European visitors which I looked upon as positive. However, after careful consideration I took the decision and pull the plug, the reason being ColinBR has kindly organised a three day jaunt around Scotland, which has been very well supported and to which i am also attending. I though it best to reschedule the Andorra trip as they were very close together, and felt it may interfere with people's plans? To the contrary, this trip is not dead and buried by any means, With the input from a few members, I have decided to relocate the Europe trip to September 2013 in the hope it may generate a little more response? We all know when trying to plan something I can not accommodate or take in everyone's ideal dates, but if you fancy giving this a crack? And You have the time? Then please read on! Although the dates I have listed below are not set in stone I will be running as closely as possible. Costs? You'll probably consider a new set of hoops? Bike serviced before you go? European break down and recovery insurance. Fuel Digs Food Red wine We intend to travel to Andorra. Our dates are now set in stone! We will be Taking in some of the "best biking roads" in the area. You can of course jump in and out at any point which suits yourself. At present I have no plans for accommodation, again, depending on numbers the seasoned Europeans have assured me there is plenty of places to stay once we arrive at our chosen destination. Given the fact we have no numbers it would be pointless even considering booking Accommodation at this stage. It could run two ways. We book somewhere and use it as a base and return to the same place everyday? Or we do the nomadic way and tour, the downside to that option of course, you will never get to have your kit off the bike. One thing we have to take into consideration, is the ferry, these book up pretty damn quick, I am going to put a time frame until mid January for people to decide if this is for them or not? I will gauge the reaction before planning a meet up for anyone intending to come so we can get together and book the boat! Regardless. If your up for a european adventure, this could be for you? In the mean time I'll pm a link to this thread to those that showed an interest before and hope the guys will post some good information again pertaining to this. As always. I will update the first page with any information I or anyone else feels The need to share. I'll also put a list of peeps that are considering coming. Two parts. Thanks for taking the time to read, as I said at the beginning, I hope all has become clear? Here’s an idea of what we can expect to get up to whilst in the neighbourhood. First off Gaz well done for even attempting this it is on my bucket list of things to do in life,I am on holiday in October next year so can't say yet if I could do the planned trip in September. But I will be watching this thread with real interest. What I will say is with Xmas round the corner is I am Going to make a real effort this year on Xmas presents for my mrs as that normally does the trick when I want to do something.
Sometimes the chance comes along to take a trip like this with like minded people and you've got to grab it 'cos when you're actually ready to do it no-one wants to go and you've lost out big time. Watch your sorry face when we get back with all our pics and stories and you'll be so envious. There's two kinds of european bikers......the ones that dream and the ones that go on a regular basis 'cos they've seen the light. Talk to anyone that's been and I'll bet it's not just the once. Just trying to spread the word, nothing personal.
Hi Gary, A possible way to reduce the ferry cost is to have a reclining seat instead of a cabin, I have always had a cabin but tried the seat option last month and found it worked really well and as you arrive at 17.00hrs there is not the problem of riding a long way feeling tired. Just my 2 cents worth....
Wise words fella.... If you haven't done a proper euro tour, make it happen... Great laugh and such an adventure.
Some good feedback again guys thank you. I'd say it's the cost that puts many people off doing a trip like this? All said and done, We all have a limited income? So to fulfil my dream, I guess I'll have to be seeing one or two Saturdays in one of these?
Nothing personal taken matey but didn't make it clear that I have been touring Europe twice a year for the last 11 years but never paid more than £500.
you sponsored by BP mate? not sure where youve been but i'd spend that on fuel alone? plus hotels, food, ferry / eurotunnel and few beers i'd always say £1200 is a good guide for a week, plus tyres and service before / after.....
i thought that what that funny lever looking thing infront of his knuckles are for!?! i'm not sure though, havent tried that one yet.....
