Well my 2011 HRC is about 600 miles away from her 16000 mile service..
The plan is to get her serviced prior to me flying out to meet my submarine after Crimbo and leave her tucked up in a nice warm garage ready for my return in April....

So what sort of costs am i looking at for the big service? as i know it inncludes valve clearances etc.....

    Jay

    So far quotes are

    Damerells in Cornwall £400
    Bridge Motorcycles in Exeter £465
    GT Motorcycles Plymouth £450

Has anyone else had any other prices??

My 07 is due now aswell and I've to make my way down to the local mechanic. Not looking forward to seeing the price. What's involved in the 16000 apart from valves anyway??

JHS racing in Keynsham near Bristol is £349.00, mine needs doing this winter.

Wedgiewolves what does this mean? I can't make sense of it at all.

I just meant that you have to have valve clearances checked at 16k but most never need adjusting so its a lot of cash to outlay

Oh okay thanks for that. I've done the past two minor services myself. It had new plugs and air filter along with oil and filter at 8k miles, it's had two oil and filter changes since and is just under 17k. I might just do oil and filter, clutch and brake fluid and be done with it. I doubt any would need shimming.

Remember those prices are for valve clearance checks only, if you need new shims and valves adjusting its more dollar on top for parts and labour as quite a bit more work involved in adjusting compared to just checking.

I will be doing mine myself so reckon on £60 for Filter, Washer, Fully Synthetic Oil, Coolant & Washer. A day in the man cave over winter when the bike is of the road is quite refreshing.

A tip for Pinkster - leave the service till spring as you will get condensation form in your sump so why not drain this water of in spring when filling with new oil rather than change the oil only for condensation to gather in it over winter and stay there until burned off.
