I have always used Castrol Power 1 part synthetic 10/40 never had any problems I have oil and filter change every 3000 miles (sometimes less depending on annual mileage)
After using premium oils up to Motul 300v on the previous blade I went back to the recommended Castrol Power 1 part synthetic. Reason, I dont need to squeeze out every ounce of HP, it's much cheaper, the change intervals were the same anyway, and IMO it actually feels smoother!
Motul 300v is designed to be raced and dumped. It doesn’t have the detergents regular oils have. I use Motul 7100 10-40 in the ‘Blade and 7100 15-50 in the Ducati.
That’s very interesting - I have annually used the 300V in my 2016 since picking it up in late 2018. Maybe I need a rethink that?
Watched Superbike Surgery on YouTube, he did a full engine strip down on a running gxr750r @i think was 90,000+ the owner wanted the tolerances checked on every thing, from crank shells to even valve stems. Everything was in factory tolerance. It was 7 × 45 minute episodes then in a follow up asked what oil he had been using, he'd always used Castrol Power 1. Phew that was a long one . It's worth watching if you're into engine strip downs and rebuilds
