Could sumwun have a look at what bolts they have got( perhaps a picture), for holding on the seat , under the little sidepanels, as i have had mine apart for a while & i have ended up with a tub of screws & bolts not knowing which wuns go where? i would luv you long time if you could help...
no photo, but they are fairly distinctive. Large head bolt with a large cross head screwdriver socket. Approx 50mm long and only threaded part way down (not threaded at the end of the bolt)
I can'r give you a picture but the head is about the size of a penny, silver, slightly domed and a cross head.
I think someones put that in by mistake. Have a look here Ronayers.com Ron Ayers Motorsports Bloody useful site that
I have fitted the originals, but, could someone tell me, does the std seat still wobble about loose even after these have been done up?
Nope. Should be solid. Have you hooked the back under properly ? How does it wobble up and down or side to side ?
Right, i have just had another look, it is loose up & down, the screws go thru a rather oversized hole b4 screwing into a little gold block. IS there supposed to be something in the hole that the screw goes thru .i.e. rubber bungs or perhaps something should go on to the screw? Back is hooked in fine, it`s just where the screw goes thru frame where you get the up & down movement?
Have you got the service manual ? If not download it here http://1000rr.co.uk/maintenance/119.htm Look at page 57 Once the screw is sitting in the hole in the subframe it can't move so it should hold the seat tight.
No, just had another try, still wobbles about, do up screws tight, seat lifts up & down, strange. someone please help (f$**%ng sh^$).
I've asked this before as my old RR8 did the same. I was told it was perfectly normal for a little movement-Due to round bolt and oval hole.
It is because of the plain shoulder on the bolt is slightly longer than the thickness of the sub frame.
If i remember right the oval holes in the sub frame should have an oval grommit in them, mine perished very quickly leaving the cross head bolts sitting loose, to combat this i bought some assorted grommits from halfrauds and found ones that fitted over the plain shoulder of bolt and also fitted into the oval frame hole, I also packed out the receiving nuts on the under seat lugs with a little wooden chock and now everything is firm and tight with no movement. I did try to source the original grommits from several micro fiche parts sites but the gommits weren't listed as a part so 'Heath Robinson' took charge.
