    All,

THe winter refresh on my old 08 bike is about to start - been offered a pair for £500 which I think is a dam good price.

Never rode the 2008 and 2012 bike back to back - anyone got any thoughts and know if they fit 100%.
Seeing what parts I can sell to fund them (or a good chunk) - and after 60k will mine need replacement - they have only had oil changes with a rebuild to date by Kais

Guess I would get maybe £200 - £250 for my pair of 08 ones on ebay? Off to look now what they sell for.

Yep - 4 trips to the Pyrenees (each 3 - 3.5k), 3 other big hauls round Europe (about 3k each) - Prob. a dozen plus trips North of the Wall minimum, track days, generally blatting about - its about to have its 2nd refresh - the dealer uses it as it its 'how do we do that on a blade' mule bike

Only got 2 service book stamps mind but only had 1 problem when sprocket carrier bearing failed after tyre fitter over did the axel nut (was almost impossible to undo at track where it failed) - but its had lots checked / replaced in that time.

Was there any other bits you had to replace on the bike other than the usual consumables given the millage you have covered?

Nothing - plugs at about 30k, valve clearances about 50k
Wheel bearings about 30k I think and should have done sprocket carrier but it was out of stock so got missed.
I've had the forks serviced with oil change by Kais and picked up brand new rear shock so cheap off race teams (£65) that I have put 2 on I think as it was cheaper than servicing the one it.
AIr filter is a K&N which gets cleaned once in a while
Brake fluid changed and that's about it
    Disks, clutch all original.
I blew the ECU up but that was my fault when distracted by neighbour who would not go away when I was working on bike and could see I was busy and just chatted about shit and wound me up...
Cam chain tensioner just done and have a clutch cable (£8 from YorkshireGooner off here) to put on as its gone a bit snatchy.

I did laugh at a lad on a track day on his bike (track only) 2008 blade - "oh its done loads of miles , think previous owner went touring on it which is why its now just a track bike" - it had done 17k...

That's some going Al, I was worrying doing 16k in 2 years, valve clearances etc....

I visited Hunts last Monday to enquire about the major service as mine has done 16k, clearances etc.... They said they would check, but virtually guaranteed they wouldn't need doing..the guys reply was " never done a 2008 on blade that needed the clearances sorted" so it looks like I'll just put fresh oil and filter in as per 1500-2k miles as normal, new chain and sprockets ( sprockets still look new, but chain is near the end of the adjusters) and lube the cables and clean the filter.... Job done i think..

Apart from 2 small stone chips at the front which have been filled in so you can't tell, the bike looks like it has only covered 1k miles. A testament of Honda build quality considering I've hammered the bloody thing in all weathers. I am on my first honda, and would definitely have another one... I loves it I do.
