This one comes from Ron Haslam Racing School - what do you think? Run-in properly? Knackerred clutch / suspension? Used HONDA CBR Cbr 1000 Rr-c For Sale in Castleford, West Yorkshire
I had seen that one and its the cheapest I've seen by a long shot. Ex-Race school bike ......makes sense now. Mind you, it's what the bikes were built for. For me though I'd rather pay more.
To me my bike is my pride and joy and would not knowingly buy an ex race school bike, that said, it's a bargain and if there's an engine problem it still has plenty of warranty. Not for me but why not?
THese bikes are mint (all bodywork removed prior to use by Ron Haslam school) then re-fitted. Full warranty, no issues and Honda UK as 1st owner Seen them in the flesh myself and been close to buying one - if you can find a cheaper blade with a known history then buy it - Yes its been run on track, but each rider gets limited track time, and I honestly think they will have been treated far better than say a road rider who does track days on his own bike a few times a year. At least you know what you are getting - mileage is tiny on all of them from memory - tyres were BT-023's last season
Run-in properly? - irrelevant Knackerred clutch - wouldn't think so, unless they constantly practice race starts suspension? - will be perfect with this low mileage I don't really see any down sides myself, but am somehow suspicious as to why the price is so low. My one and only question would be "has it ever been crashed or dropped?"
I owned a bike with Honda UK as first owner. What they didn't tell me was that it had been a press bike. I found pics of it being stunted by that big bloke from the StarBoyz who came and wrote for a UK magazine for a while. Strangely enough, the clutch failed soon after I bought it! So, how does anyone know this was a Haslam race school bike?
I would buy it, even crashed or dropped its been owned by a propper company and prob repaired properly if it rides at 30mph with hands off straight that's straight enough. Who's to say any bike you buy hasn't been crashed and repaired unrecorded? Plenty of people do it these days
I spoke to the dealer yesterday and was told it's an ex Ron Haslam Race School bike. How running in can be irrelevant? Anyone knows how much is to replace the clucth plates?
The dealer told me my ex-press bike had been owned by a Honda corp exec! Running in method is irrelevant cos it doesn't affect engine life either way (IMHO of course )
casvegas honda have been buying the ex ron haslam bikes for years , i have not heard any bad press about the previous bikes sold . might be worth putting it in a google search and see what comes up .
My bike is a Ron Haslam race bike,Ive had it 2 years and Ive never had a problem with it.Also 2 of my 600rr were Ron haslam bikes.Next year ill be back for another one.I wouldn't do this with any other make of bike ,its a Honda. The guys who look after Ron's bikes know what there doing...... Why pay more than you have to.I paid £6900 for mine 2 years ago hardly any miles on it.I carnt recommend Castle Honda enough.
And with a bit of careful handling you can knock them down a bit from the original price.... Ask for Bob..
I got offered 2 haslam RR-C's a few week back. Bought my RR-C 1st of March it went straight on the track, when a new model comes out it will be fitted back into it's mint road trim and traded in. Unless you buy a new bike or one you have known from new you never know what your really buying.
Agree with the above..... it does not matter what the previous owner or dealer tells you..... just think of it as all lies and you won't be far wrong. There job is to get you (or anyone else) to buy their bike. At least with these bikes you know what they have been used for.
What I don't get is why would a race school sell a mint bike for a low price if everything's ok with it.. Surely it would make more sense to run it till the warranty expires..
they sell the lot in one go at the end of the season . they will get them very cheaply by buying a load at once , plus its like car driving schools, if you learn in a fiesta and like it ,chances are you will consider buying one.
