    Hi guys
Got a chance to purchase a 2012 HRC fireblade with 3500 miles on the clock, at the moment I own an 2021 speed triple 1200rs, owned for the last 18 months , if you was me would you trade in the triple for an 11 year old bike? ,and is the hrc blade bullet proof or do they have any known problems, please help...

That's a fairly old bike tech wise by comparison. Obviously you'll lose a lot of the electronics, the Ohlins bling and a chunk of power and that's only something you can decide whether you need or will miss.

Obvious statement is can you test ride it? May be a fairly easy decider if you can.

Generally most Blades are fairly bulletproof and were well put together. But again it comes down to how this one has been looked after and serviced. I'll mention the ABS issues and won't go on about it as there's plenty on the forum about it. ;)

I have to ask, is trading it in for one of the other recent supernakeds not an option? Some great deals knocking around on the Speed 1200RR if you can live with the riding position.

    What are the figures?

Unless you're pocketing a decent amount of money on the deal I'd be wary, sellers sometimes think that sort of low mileage on an older bike is the green light to say its worth more than it is.

Doubt you'd have reliability issues with a Blade like a Triumph but you never know.

You need a test ride really.

Is there an advert to look at?

    Good luck.

Just looked - that’s a lot of cash for that age, but more of a concern is its an ABS. Your decision totally but do some reading up on here first. Pre 2017 the ABS was potentially very dodgy shall we say  and a fortune come fluid change (due to the ridiculous time it takes)

As @Boothman and others are saying, the ABS models are a huge risk, not a risk I'd take.

Used prices are crazy at the minute and looking round that seems about what you'd expect for that low mileage and being a main dealer. Doesn't mean it's worth it to everyone though, that wouldn't represent good value to me. Might to someone else though.

Just the way the market is unfortunately.
