There won't be one weekend to suit everyone - my thoughts would be have the Saturday at the show and then those who want to can stay for Sat evening for a few beers and get a bite to eat in B'ham city centre using train back to hotel at the airport, or get cheap hotel in centre B'ham (its 10 min train ride to NEC) There are not the bargains there used to be due to internet / ebay - I find first weekend its all fresh, nothing has run out and everything still works - by the 2nd weekend exhibitors are tired and have started to pack up. Also if folk want to go Sunday the have option to meet up Sat evening before they visit show Sunday, or travel after work Friday and stay Fri evening if needed. Me and the missus usually go down on the first saturday, so I'll keep an eye this to see what pans out, would be great to meet some more members. Funny how she was only talking about the show on sunday.
I'm in driving distance so no late night drinking, however I will be there and the day I go is optional?
I missed out last year as the two people I planned to go with couldn't get their shit squared away in time and decided last minute they didn't fancy it. So this year I'm bypassing that and going on my own regardless of who wants to go too. If they're ready on the doorstep when I leave, fair enough. Otherwise, tough. No idea of which day yet though.
No idea for me either... Usually go with my dad and bro in law, didn't stop over last year like normal and tbh didnt enjoy as much. So this year will prob go on the sat, have a mooch around, stay in town and have a few beers then a curry then quite a few more beers (that's normally the format) then head back on Sunday for final sweep of the stalls and pick up anything I may have scouted on the sat... I'll keep an eye on this and try and fit it into the same week as the majority on here.
Good idea Al & makes sense. I tend to go mid week when its quieter but not sure I have any hols left this year.
can't we book a weekday, over the years found them to be much quieter than the weekends. just a thought
We are going (MissB and I) We Always enjoy the bikeshow....sitting on all the bikes, having a beer (she drives home) and generally goofing around.
I usually do the last Sunday. If any of you reprobates are staying over the Saturday night before, I could easily have my arm twisted to get involved in some curry & lager action, with a Travelodge stay over.
We missed it last year so I am sure Ling and I will go on one of the weekends, doubt we will stay over though. Open about which weekend and will waiting and see which is the most popular with you guys.
I'm up for the Saturday stay over, with the curry and beers. Atleast this time we can all get a good chin wag. Last year was all a little rushed and too busy inside to get to know you guys.
Went the last Saturday in 2011, got V busy about an hour or so after opening but easy regarding date as I'll be sure to go anyway. Will go with whatever the consensus is ................
