I want to go next year. the wife wants to go :victory: and was thinking of going for a day (looking at Sunday) and taking my girls. 2012 AirAsia British Grand Prix (MotoGP) at Silverstone - FRI 18 - SUN 20 JUN 12 A few questions. Were is best to book, they give various grandstand areas etc... as I gather the more expensive the better view? Or not? I would love to watch the race on the Sunday but which is best, fri sat or Sun? If I was not taking the family I would go for the 3 days. Taking the car, should be less than 2 hours to get there, whats the parking like? traffic? I've only been for TD's and RAC rally etc.. Not a huge event like the MOTO gp Any helpful advice is very welcome. WHY!!!!! the wife hates bikes but wants to go and watch the MOTO gp. So that's a start
I go with the wife, sister and brother law. We generally buy weekend tickets. We have found the best deal is "roving grandstand". You can go in almost any of the grandstands including the covered ones (we were glad of the cover this year!). We go on bikes. I really wouldn't go in a car. The ques are astronomical. It took us 1.5 hours to get out on the bikes - god knows how long in a car. Sunday is definitely the best day but Saturday is OK.
HOW LONG??? can't take bike as it's only me that rides and my 6 and 9 yo have not been on the bike. cheers for the info, as for the roving grandstand I have not seen tickets for that?
Try this link....http://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/motogp12/?tab=book-now Second box down headed "roving" Update - it wont go direct to the page. Just click on the link, then go to which ever selection you want - saturday, sunday, weekend, then look at the second box down. You cant miss it.
stunning found it. Only thing that worrys me is I posted this on another forum and a chap I know took 5-6 hours getting out of the site I would love to take the wife pillion BUT it may take some convincing and she's reading this as I type it
5-6 hours wouldn't surprise me in the least in a car. Thats after the 5-6 hours to get in in the morning of course!
we booked last month direct thru silverstone website and at the time they has earlybird specials for sunday roving grandstand discounted tickets for adults and free for kids. we paid £126 all in for family of 4 so i would check it out sooner than later. getting out if your in a car can be a nightmare at times. 1000rr t shirts at the ready and on the lookout.!!
just checked via that link there still doing that offer so chance of saving some pennies. getting into the site seems to be fairly easy and if on bike should be easy out too. hth!
It's not that bad in the car, me and the mrs went this year in the car although it was much quicker when I went to wsbk on the blade. I'd leave it until last minute if your not taking the kids to see what the weathers like cos motogp this year was horrendous weather and I was glad to jump back in the car after it finished tbh
I went to the F1 at silverstone this year, I went for the weekend on the bike I parked at the silverstone school they open the school field and parking areas to raise money for the school. I've got to say the guy who ran the parking at the school was fantastic, he gave me a route in and out that avoided all the traffic. Also they only listed parking for cars so I emailed him and he said to just buy the Saturday parking and he adjusted it to a weekend ticket. I think it cost me £10ish for the whole weekends parking. Oh they also made sure they saved me parking on hard standing, something I hadn't even mentioned to them! I drove in and out of Silverstone and didn't wait in traffic for more than 5 minutes just getting out of the village and then I had clear roads, being that I was travelling back to Cornwall I was delighted as I had quite a trip ahead of me without being stuck in traffic for hours on end!
Sod it, going to book this for me and the family this week Que Or not I want to go to see the MOTO gp and hoping the wife and kids will enjoy it as much as me
to add it was suggested to get the roving grandstand but as i'm taking my girls and its a first come first serve would the reserved seats be better for a family with 2 young ones? so we get a seat during the race and can walk around during the rest of the day? Woodcote A - Reserved Abbey - Reserved Village B - Reserved Village B looks good but anyone that knows silverstone can recommend a grand stand area out of the 3 above?
