'People need to ensure they can be at the start point for 09.30 and this may require a hotel in the borders / Carlisle area the night before as it is a long haul to Grantown-on-Spey'
A suggestion may be Hawick as a town for the Thurday night for those travelling from afar Alblade has arranged accomodation for this night as per following post.

Id be up for that. A couple of years ago a mate i know in Falkirk sorted me a route out, but it fell through due to lack of interest. Ive still got the info and scotland tour guide.
Id probably tow the bike up leave the car in falkirk and ride the rest of the way.

I guess the first thing to agree on is when and how long for, although anyone wanting a shorter trip could split off into a 2nd group.

Finding out if there is interest is there is why I'm asking first, rather than jumping in head first and organising anything and wasting my time. I already have a rough idea on when to do it and have a few possible routes to do depending on the timescale of the majority for the trip.

I'll do five days over a weekend tbh. Day up, 3 days tear up and day home.

I'll cover some weekends at work to make sure it doesn't eat my holiday. But well up for it, top man for sorting col!

How long for will be determined by how far you guys are willing to go (spend time away from the wife's ;) )
Personally I'd say 3 days would be able to cover the best parts, roads and scenery. A Bank holiday weekend could be a possibility. If that doesn't suit a couple of days would still be able to take in some amazing roads and give everyone a taster for what it's like.

Guess one big thing I've chatted to Colin about is do this over a weekend, or mid week.

Over a weekend I would say take Fri and Mon off work, but get up to 'Northern England' for Fri morning start.

Mid week = maybe 4 / 5 days of holiday / off work.

Is there a way to add a vote / pole for this to help Colin put wheels in motion etc.

I would love to do it but for me being away from home for a couple of nights is not going to happen.

Best of luck with it though

If anyone travelling further afield wants to make this? But wants to split the journey up and set off on the Thursday? I'm sure our northern hospitality will spread far enough to offer a place to sleep so they can set off nice and fresh Friday morning with the rest of the northern comtingent for the push upto Scotland to meet colin at the start of the tour.
I can/will offer the use of my back lounge where there's room for a couple of folk
If anyone wants to take me up on this? More than welcome.

Oh and don't go googling my name to see if your safe, the allegations were never proven ;)

Well there certainly seems to be some interest on this trip. (not that I doubted you guys in the slightest to be interested)

I'll post up the main route that I was planning for you guys, that will take around the 3 day mark. Along with some dates that you can all fight amongst yourselves to decide upon.

Remember this is all provisional, and if the amount of time/distance doesn't suit then we can always re-arrange it. There are more than a few routes for this trip and all going well we could be in for a cracking tour.

Col, pick a date and route. Otherwise it'll be murder...

Stick to it and be done with, otherwise you will be trying to sort people's prefered dates and preferences for a lifetime. Plenty of notice, not everyone can make it but that's life.

    My experience anyway...
