Just agreed to px the 2014 I bought a year ago for a 2017 after lots of reading through the informative stuff on the forum, I'm hoping I made a wise choice. It's a standard bike, so I guess the circle of "what shall I do next" starts again. As a result of the pending exchange have listed a few nice bits for the 2014+ for sale, including an unfitted Skidmark J McGuiness dark tint screen. In due course there will also be a recovered seat set, for taller riders with the driver seat lifted 25-30mm plus gel pad (for the tricolor bikes). Will post a pic of new bike in appropriate thread in due course. Mike

There is a few perks to it with tc modes and never had to adjust throttle cable again, also the normal bleed of abs brake; let us know how you get on

Well.....exchanged the 2014 for 2017 today. 70 mile trip across to dealer on 2014, same back on 2017. Initial impressions. Both bikes so far outstrip my riding capabilities and in truth are very very similar. Rode the 2017 back in lower power mode 3 (street). Ride, handling, and performance in truth nothing between them. Both on same Bridgestone's (thank you God) which I always have. Both bikes adjusted to accommodate me (72 next birthday, legs that only bend so far at knees) so built up riders seat by 25-30mm (quick bodge up for the 2017) & Blackbird peg lowers swopped from one to other at dealers by yours truly. My only initial observations a twofold - there is a definitely noticeable induction rumble on the 2014 when accelerating hard that is not evident on 2017. And the 2017 brake lever feel is solid and repeatable, whereas the 2014 isn't. Both bikes stock exhausts & induction systems. You only notice the 2014 induction rumble by it's absence on t'other bike. So worth the change --- probably not, unless like me you have limited time on two wheels and think you don't have to put up with variable brake feel. I'll update when more experience of 2017, but not sure will add much. Couple of pics follow -- note the elegant seat bodge which was comparable to sitting on a race bike's board seat. It will get sorted. Mind you it does mean I can now sell on a very elegant color-matched seat set for a 2014+ Tricolor Blade with built up rider seat inc.gel pad. Glad your adjusting easily and hopefully you will learn to enjoy your new toy. Were you in Mode 3 or power mode 3? I've attached a graph which represents how the power curve gets adjusted for different power maps power mode 5 is basically wet weather type riding and power mode 1 is all it has to give. As you can see there is a fairly significant difference in how strangled the engine becomes as you move down the power scale towards power mode 5 At say a half throttle you can lose about 40% of available power Enjoy getting it just the way you like it
Well, made me go and check. I've obviously not got my "modes" right in earlier post. I shoved it into one of two user modes that I guess were input by prior owner. He had User 1 with Power at 1 (T2, EB2), and User 2 with Power at 3 (T@5, EB @3). I had flicked through online manual beforehand and noted the set MODE1,2&3 Values, and had planned to use Set Mode 2, but in my desire to leave dealership and get back into cooler airstream, fiddled with instruments as best one could while somewhat hot, & ended up in his User 2. I thought maybe it might be better gauge versus 2014, though in truth I doubt it mattered. So lot's to learn, but that is after all the beauty of a bike change..... Bottom line really for me is both are fine bikes, as a perpetual Honda buyer they always are. Just something in the brake feel of the 2014 is not right, but that's clearly well known and mine was at 15k with no known history of specific issues. But if I had not decided to sell on both the 2014 & a pristine 2013 600F to buy the 2017 I would have lived with the 2014 I'm sure and enjoyed it. Mike
Yeah you will have hours of fun and frustration testing the various settings but once done you will get a good feel for the differences and that allows you really dial in the bike to the way YOU like it. This is probably the biggest difference with older models, the ability to change and tweak the electronics and they do actually make a noticable difference. Enjoy the coming weeks!

I use mode 1 on warm days and once the tyres are warmed up so full power low TC and min engine braking which is great even if you throttle off in corners it pulls you round ....mode 2 in lower temps or when road surfaces are a bit iffy for a little more comfort then mode 3 when I have had new tyres fitted as TC then in max mode godid safety net to have when scrubbing in new rubber good fun also in thus mode as you feel you are riding the bike and you can pin it like a 600 still goes like stink ....mode 1 stiffens right up and is great when doing a empty A road at speed.

With a 'yours truly' brick-hard seat lift botch" to get me home with the lowered pedals I swopped over from 2014 bike at dealership. Planning a few subtle mods of course (starting with a tail tidy!). And just listed for sale the last two bits from px'd 2014 -- nice professionally covered full seat set for a "Taller" Tricolor owner, and an SP Engineering carbon exhaust, that will also fit earlier models. Planning more selective/less mods on the new one. Mike
