Hi dudes, bit premature, but a client came in today, and she has a place on the borders of the Pyrenees and Andorra.(Mediterranean side) I've secured it from the end of May, 2014 for 5 days as a base. It sleeps 8, and there's already four of us going…. so 4 spaces left. The cost is £25 per person for the 5 days! ( she is letting me have it for £200 for the lot). The caveat is that we leave her 5 or 6 bottles of wine. Happy days. It's going to take 2 days getting there, and i'm factoring another 3 getting back, so we have 4 spaces left. It's in a village called Coustouges. Barcelona isn't that far, so worth a visit too if you haven't been. It has an outdoor Jacuzzi/spar, and is lovely. There villagers are fantastic apparently, and theres some fab restaurants nearby, and we are likely to get invited by the locals to their houses for meals (if we wish). So, first come, first served on this. I know it's early, but better booking as she never rents it out as it's a family holiday home and giving us a cheap week away. cheers.
Awesome offer dude!! Would love to be able to commit to this now but can't. Wanted to do this are next year also....
Wow. that was a quick one Si, by the times I'd got to the computer, all the places were gone, which TBH, looking at the dates i wouldn't have been able to do it anyway mate, my driver has end of May into June off for the TT, i think also to be honest, i'm going to see how our September one pans out, shameless plug if anyone fancies it? http://1000rr.co.uk/events-meetings-ride-outs/7509.htm look forwards to following this one mate, if i can add anything valuable at a later date? i will indeed
Fantastic area - Not far from the famed 'cow shit road' from Ripol to Puigcerda which you must ride. My top travel tip to get there is overnight boat from Portsmouth to Le Harve or Caen and then ride down to somewhere north of Toulouse - even Milau for the bridge in a day, then get to digs early afternoon the next day. Ripol to Berga is also epic road - well Jel as the kids say - if other want to go ask the owner for details of other digs to rent in the same village the same week - but it won't be as cheap.
I have perfect alternative place - large gites in les Cabannes, work out at about €100 each for the week. Large, spacious units, mainly twin rooms, kitchen large tv, BBQ area or 5 min walk to town with bar, pizza place and restaurant and cash point and spar shop.
This is the complex of Gites I mentioned Our Cottage - Complexe des Oustalous Location of Les Cabannes http://goo.gl/maps/51vWu It has two parts, the schools complex, but you want to look at the Gites which would be perfect. Gite complex In the centre there is a common washing area with machines and dryers, bedding supplied, Kitchen in each (but we were social so all ate in largest unit) We paid €1000 for 2 units for a week in September and think we had 10 / 12 in total so price pretty similar to original proposal Evening view Anyone interested ? 2nd or 3rd week in June maybe to avoid half term week and even longer days / evenings ?
Thanks for keeping us informed Si and thanks for trying to arrange it in the first place. Some times these things fall thru. Al I'd love to do this but I'm on holiday with the girlfriend and wee man on the 3rd week of June.
That looks amazing Al! Whats the plan for getting down there? Ride through France or can you get a ferry to somewhere in Spain?
if the original group have the week set aside / clear then stick with those dates maybe - its really put up as 'don't cancel the trip, maybe change it to this instead'
am looking at this with me eyes wide open time to have a chat with the wife me thinks is this just a week ? and aprox the full cost ? if it goes a head
James / Craig Lots of options to get there, but mid channel crossing to Portsmouth good option, Spain another but some find it slow. Costs are hard to be exact, but with tyres, breakdown cover, food , beer etc it tends to be a grand all in. It's hard with a group as there are ways to save money like taking lunch with you, but others want to sit down and stop for an hour or more in a restaurant for lunch and spend 10 - 15 euro each day. Evening meal similar, eat out and with just 2 beers you are looking at €20 per evening minimum, eat in is a fraction of that. Then maybe 2 tanks of juice a day (some less, some more) Cheapest way to get there is 3 bikes in a van.
