Meant as a bit of fun, but what do folk intend / want to plan / go to / visit in 2014? be realistic and optimistic! For me if the dates are set and work 1 week apart I would like to head to MotoGP at Misano, ride over French Riviera into Pyrenees and over to Arragon in 4/5 days, then MotoGP there and back - the getting to/from first and last circuit tbc.
If I were you al, def ride down. Belgium, Germany, Austria, Dolomites.... 3-4 days. Gp. Ride to Spain and take 5 days. Gp Boat home. Be a great trip. Nice break after 4/5 days riding each time. But would need 2 weeks off work in reality. I'd never get the pass. It's all about Spain for me next year!
Jimbo, its a haul down there for sur3, but take tents maybe and 3 days by beach at misano, hotels over to Arragon, camp at circuit or near by again, then boat home. As you say long trip but great time of year etc.and plenty of time off bike to chill at tracks.
Tent? Did you say tent That's the problem with riding to a euro gp, always a two week affair unless you go via motorways (I'd rather fly).... Not a haul at all though, exactly what I done last year up from Italy. Was a great four days.... And not a mile of motorway. Would be a fantastic trip though and like you say, 2 day break at motogp few beers etc at end of each 5 day stint. Perfect!!
Just kinda considering options for a 2014 trip, it'll be Europe for sure though..top of the wish list..no rain would be nice.
Id like to take the Blade down to south France and have a base sumwhere for 7 - 10 days in a lovely cottage or house, do sum riding in the pyrenees, visit i Andorra, the. Milau bridge area as i hear its lovely, go to Monaco to see how the other half live n then ride home via Route Napolean. Even the Mrs is up for it, dunno how she'd cope 2 up for that period of time mind ya n saves me gerring any speeding fines as i dont race round with her on the back as shed give me a telling off n a kick in the balls
Castellane on the route napoleon. Great place and base on the route napoleon. We had a cabin on a campsite just outside town which was cool. Some info (lot of stupidness too) here, but gives ya an idea of the area http://1000rr.co.uk/touring/11367.htm
Cheers dude for the info, alot to take in there, ill have another good read when im fully awake, got few chaps who have never ridden abroad in europe, so we are all meeting up with the wags for a drink n chit chat about a trip around May. I was finking of the motorail down to south france, saves the Mrs getting a numb bum, wear n tear n gives me a day or 2 off the bike, dunno if you guys have ever done that as i know u have travelled extensively down that way??
Came home via the motor rail this year, was brilliant!! I'd fly the wags into nice, cheap as chips, and you boys can ride down Plenty of options though fella, but if you want any info, just ask.... Few others have been that way also.
Not sure about hotels near Misano, and told of great campsite right on beach about 10 min walk to circuit. arragon middle of nowhere so no idea on accom. you don't have to use it, but at Mugello camping at circuit essential for the full experience and very little else close by - trust me till you done Mugello at the circuit on a Fri night you aint seen the half of it... Misano and Arragon a bit calmer no doubt. Also castellane gets big thumbs up here as a base - great town
Cheers dude you def have gave me alot of good ideas there, thank you!! really appreciate it n flying the wags down is a brill idea!!
Jimbo, we're considering he Motorail thing next year. Can you give me some details please?......like from where to where, how much.....how much hassle and time to get on and off it?
I've got loads of info at work, but for now We booked with these Welcome to Railsavers - Leading Motorail SpecialistsWelcome to Railsavers were brilliant. Got all the info on here Guide to Motorail trains in Europe | Taking your car by train It's a piece of piss. We done allessandria to holland, mornings ride over the mountains from castellane, check in at 1pm ish, load bikes then get a couple of hours before train leaves about 4. Few beers, own cabin and kip, wake up unload in half hour bout 10am and in Calais about 1pm Think it was about 200 each for bike and four man cabin one way. But gave us so much more time on the trip as we didn't need to spend 2 days coming back Really was hassle free. I'd be tempted to do it both ways it's that good....
I'm thinking if it takes 3 or 4 hours of mucking about in Paris, you could be a couole of hundred miles down the peage by then.
True true.... But we don't do motorways, so two full days to Grenoble and a day on RN means three days travel to get there via twisties. Which is brilliant, just eats I to your week. The reason why we did it one way on the way home...
