Just been at my local Honda dealer and had a look at the latest VFR Honda VFR800F updated for 2014 | MCNews.com.au

Really good spec, Heated Grips, Traction Control, ABS (Conventional not combined), Centre Stand, Self Cancelling Indicators etc. as standard. They even do a plug in quick shifter as an option. Maybe some of these extras will get to the Fireblade eventually?!

Power is only 105 BHP ish I think and weight 240 Kg. Its a shame they don't to a 1000cc lighter version!

If anyone has tried one I would be interested in their thoughts.

    Cheers,

    Ian.

Had a very nice ride in September this year.

Goes faster than it feels, handles very nicely, but just does not feel or make you feel great.

Will do what you ask it all day, with comfort no vibration and economically but did not leave me feeling I wanted one.

A very sensible choice but needs at least 15 more ponies, to make it great.

    Just my opinion.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I reckon it could do with more power!

    Yep I've ridden one.

Its not a blade but the power is adequate for the section of the market it competes in.

The VFR1200 has lots more power if needed. :D

I'm really liking the VFR1200 DCT version. Any one had one 'long-term'?

You have to ride one for a few hours test ride to really get the feel of the DCT mate, its brilliant.

Ignore any keyboard experts that have never ridden one and don't understand how it work.

Consider that every high performance car that has the same type of transmission..........

1200 : with a handlebar conversion is 1000 times better

I would not consider anything less than a 1000cc.

So Fireblade, R1, ZX, GSXR are all out of the question for you then ;)
and I won't mention the fact that capacity is only really relevant in conjunction with no. of cylinders/engine config :)

I have never ridden one but i really do have a soft spot for them, they sound unique and i think could make sense for the daily commute, just not too sure if the weight would be an issue when filtering.

Sound even better with a can on. They don't feel heavy at all especially once your rolling.

The MSX is like a cool new Monkey Bike, type of thing to sling on the back of you massive campervan and nip to the shops / beach etc.

Looks good in Repsol colours though
