Hi guys Me and my mate who both blades alrhough his is an sp one the posh get were on about remaps. Are they worth the 380-£450 we have been quited for them on 2015 blade and 2016 sp. Are they that restricted as standard etc? Cheers Lucas
If they're stock bikes I would say not worth it. Bikes were Euro3 so it's not like there's tonnes of emission controls to be undone etc. If you've started modifying with exhaust etc then it might be worth it but don't expect night and day improvements. There's not much power gains to be had either way, you'll be lucky to see 5-10bhp gain with a slip on and remap. Ditching the stock can and getting a custom map makes the bottom end a bit fuller and stops the lurch as the exhaust valve opens. What have you been quoted for exactly? If it's a generic ECU flash then it's a bit of a leap of faith and that's expensive. If it's half a day on the dyno with a skilled bloke mapping the ECU or writing a map for a PCV you're paying top dollar so make sure his credentials are good. I'm not an expert but I went on the journey with my 2015 bike....Slip on Akra, K&N filter, PCV with custom map. The difference between the PCV map off the dynojet website and the custom map was negligible for me....the dynojet maps are pretty good and I could have saved myself the cost of the custom map.
Thanks for your reply. The bikes both have an akrapovic exhaust slip on on them. The exhaust servo has been made to remain open and thats it. It would be a a ecu remap where its done on a dyno so it is set up to your bike.
The only time you will get noticeable gains from a Dyno ECU tune is if you put a full exhaust system on, a slip on exhaust makes a small change. I would only pay that sort of money if I had issues with the fueling, like a flat spot, not for HP gains on the CBR.
You could keep your eye out for a 2nd hand PCV? There's plenty of maps floating round. I can share mine with you too if you have the same slip on? Mine is mapped for each individual gear so you'd need an extra input going into the PCV from the speed sensor. Atleast with PCV if you aren't happy with it or don't think its made enough of a difference you've still got lots of options....Take it off sell it and run without, take it off sell it and get ECU mapped, try a different map or get custom PCV map.
Personally I found the custom map I had done far better with the throttle response and fuelling than the generic map with a pcv. like said, you won’t get massive gains but a custom map will smooth out the power and the way it delivers it with the ecu mapped you can also change a lot of other things like the fan cut in temps that you can’t do with a pcv
