Got my eye on a 2017 CBR1000RR which I'll primarily use as a track bike (70% track and 30% road). Currently got a 08 Blade and its been a faff and nightmare getting the fairings off and on. Particularly the side fairings where it connects to inner fairing around the front and top plastics that cover the air ducts. Real pain!! Is the 2017 model any easier? Also quickly swapping out the indicators front and rear (for trackday use) - how easy is this? Heard that Honda had made it easy to quickly remove tail section unit hanger and lights - true or not?
I'd say the fairings are marginally easier to remove than on the 08 model. Front indicators are in the mirrors so they're easy to remove. However the rear, you're better off just removing the tail tidy with indicators attached. This will mean dismantling seat unit fairing completely. The wiring runs down the side, inside of the seat unit fairing rather than directly under the pillion seat where you would normally see the wires routed. I did a post on this in 2018 when I bought a new SP with a video attached.....I'll see if I can find it!

Keep watching videos over and over and practice. You could always fit extra plugs in convenient places. I fitted amp superseal plug kits on my old Ducati, made services much easier.
thanks pal. Looks a right faff. Do the front panels have the same feature as 08 model where they clip to internal fairings near radiator as well?
