fellas, I got a 2018 blade back in January. Since then I’ve done 4 or 5 rides of between 70-130 miles with no issues. Gone to take it out today and it’s dead.. no life whatsoever. I’ve had old bikes before and when the batteries been going on them you get tiny bit of life and then nothing. The blade tho.. zip. Is it the battery? Or have I triggered the immobiliser or something somehow? Normally I’d say battery but it’s a brand new bike and the lack of any life whatsoever has confused me. Help..?! Andy
Ta - having thought a bit more I reckon it’s the tracker. It’s kept in a residents underground car park. Unfortunately there’s no where to plug a charger in down there and I don’t fancy having to get the battery out to charge every time I park up. Anyone ever use a solar charger? I’ve heard they work with electric lights? What a ball ache.
Sorry not me @nigelrb,I’m sure the tracker monitors the voltage and is supposed to warn you via text when it’s own internal battery is getting to low before it runs the normal battery to low or flat
Hmmm - I’ll give them a call and ask about that. Not that impressed - was hoping to do a couple hundred miles over the never 4 days
I'm guessing a solar charger running off artificial lights would be pretty poor too as most lights will only be a few watts output? you might be better off with a lithium jump starter?
I’ve got a portable jump starter so will use that tomorrow to get me going. Will using it multiple times knacker the battery? It’s annoying as living in London I need a tracker but this wasn’t ever mentioned. I figured the battery use would be so low so not a problem. It’s also annoying as whilst it is an underground car park it’s only one floor down and I pack right by the down ramp - I can literally see the sky from where the bike is. I’m not that impressed that the tracker can’t read the bikes position from there (hence continue to transmit and drain the battery)
I have both a datatool and Tracker on mine and confess that I do not have any problems even if left for a week. It may be the case your tracker cant get a mobile or GPS fix so using extra power? Saying that the battery should have enough current to run the dash even if flat?
One of the flipping bolt/screw holding the seat in place has obvs been over tightened and the head of the bolt has been damaged so I can’t undo it.. Allen key just keeps spinning within it.. anyone got any tips on how to undo do?
That’s what I thought - it was completely dead though - even with older bikes with dead batteries I’ve never had “no life” whatsoever
tap the bolt lightly and use antiseize spray then rubber glove or elastic band on the end of the allen key
Call Honda New bike must still be under warranty I have never heard of a solar charger running off artificial light but I could be wrong I recon there is something wrong HISS and tracker should not make it go flat that quick
When you've got it sorted you may as well turn HISS light off, I always do. It's a waste of time it flashing away as no one's going to say...hey its got a light flashing... let's not tip this bike on its side and shove it in our thief van.
I didn’t want to rub it in but I use one of these and for the last 6 years of owning a vtr I have never had a problem starting it no matter how long I left it Solar Charger 12V 4W Fold-out Solar Briefcase for Battery Charging by Eco Power Shop https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00TIJ3U6A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_xd9KCbHSZ775T
What does the HISS actually do? There wasn’t even a flicker from the bike Which I thought was odd. Does the HISS immobilise it completely?
