According to the tech spec, John McGuiness's Fireblade has a 24 litre fuel tank.

Is this specially made, can I have one ?

Not for the TT, but for ordinary use, especially trips to the continent it would be useful to have a larger tank.

Be interested in knowing about how this is done, even if I can't get one !

    Thanks.

Are you looking to get the look of the 24l tank (ie. Removing oem and fitting endurance cowl) or the actual 24l capacity tank which is specially made and not cheap?

They have been discussed on here before, they can either be made from scratch or the oem tank can be cut up and new pieces spliced in to give the extra capacity and then a new endurance style tank cowl goes on top to look more stock.

To fit a 24L tank some of the under tray items would need to be relocated, as the extra capacity eats into that space

As shiny has said its not cheap! And if not moving those said item using a standard tank you might gain about 2-3 litres having the top modded at about £400 to get done

Thank you for your replies.Just thought a bit of extra fuel range would be useful, because of the recent trip to France and the Frenchies with their fuel blockade.

That is the only reason, and if it going to be hugely expensive then not worth it.

Tbh mate if it was me I would save the cash and just pick up a couple of travel fuel canisters that can be filled and strapped to the luggage on the back of the bike.

Think these sort come in 1 & 2.5ltr versions and can take them with you as and when you think you will need em.

I thought about it, but because of the shortages, limits were often placed on what you could buy, and the filling of separate cans was forbidden - people not playing by the rules getting into fights - like Mad Max !

I saw many signs where filling of cans was forbidden, and never put it to the test myself by trying. Although funnily enough a French garage chappy filled my tank from a can, when I said I am staying here until the tanker comes. He sold me nearly 10 litres !

Mad, first time I have ever experienced anything like that. Like rationing, or being in a war or something.

This sign is easy understood - 20 litres max, and no jerrycans - interdit !!
