Hi, Second time this has happened, bike battery is dead on Monday morning - not completely it does turn and then goes flat! I use my bike Monday to Friday and its parked up for the weekend - is this due to the weather or do i need a new battery? Sam
Mines the same, has been for 2 years lol, goes dead if sat for more than 2 days. I just keep on a trickle charger and its fine
You need a new battery. If you need to charge it after 2 days, you've either got a drain to earth on the wiring or a bad battery.
I realize when im late for work - so end up jump starting it using leads and the car! - not the best thing to do...but it got me going this morning.. How much is a new battery?
Hey, How long is your journey to work? if its only a couple of miles the charging system may never have the chance to completely top up what was removed when starting the bike and each time a lil more current removed from the battery till it cant start the bike. The batteries in bikes are really really small in current supplying abilities when compared to the likes of a car and they dont take long on flattening out when cranking an engine over. The batteries in the 08+ blades are also smaller in amperage than smaller engined bikes made by other manufacturers. The cold temps also kill batteries, flat batteries accounts for a lot of the call outs the AA and RAC and others receive each year in the winter time! if your bike is kept in a garage overnight the simplest option as mentioned would be to plug in a trickle charger or similar into the bike overnight so the battery is up to the task of starting in the colder mornings. as mentioned above the battery my be on its way out and a new one my be required, it may be worth getting it tested to find out for sure. Also it may be worth doing a current draw test on your bike to find out if there is any units attached to the bike thats always drawing a current out the battery and this constant draw is too much when the bike is left over the weekend. as you've got a 04-05 digout a multimeter and check the charging system ... genie winding is prone to fail on 04-05 ... honda had a stealth recall .. and extended the warranty for the fault i replaced the winding and installed a mosfet based rectifier (less heat.. less chance of failure) when mine failed then again cold kills batteries... batteries only last 4-5 year generally
Just a thought, is your bike a C-ABS model? If so, there was a issue with the ABS control unit which would leave the abs servo motors going if you applied the brakes at slow speed before you switched the bike off. How do I know, i've had to bump start my bike on a few occasions
might be the stator as Lcr sayd few post above but even if you do the recall the stator still can be burnd or half working ...then again you might need new battery ))
Does it have a data tool alarm if so smash it to bits as all they are good for is murdering batteries !
As said, check the current leakage when the ignitions off and the charge system mate. May well just be the battery, but worth checking.
