So me and 2 friends are spending 3 days in Dolgellau from the 27th August. Does anyone know any good routes or places that are bike friendly where we can go? I have heard ponderosa is a good place to ride to?

Ponderosa , nowhere near mate ,
Go to Barmouth and follow the coast road to Harlech ,
Or you could do Tywyn and take coast road to Aberystwyth
Then onto Machynlleth and back to Dolgellau , that is a god ride out .

It's a great area - will try and post up a few ideas but Barney got some good ideas.

Just watch out for police over a bank holiday weekend....

I lived in North Wales for 8 years. There's some great roads. Ponderosa is well do-able. The road from Nesscliffe to Bala and Trawsfynydd is great. Just off the B road from Nesscliffe is the highest waterfall in Wales,Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, well worth a visit. Watch out for sheep in the road as you ride through the Berwyn mountains and visit Lake Vyrnwy.

Gimme a bell for some more routes. I may be in Shrewsbury on Monday?

Did not say ponderosa is not do-able , but there's better places to visit than there ,
Would not bother with waterfall , was working there yesterday , roads are full of tractors
Getting there 2nd hay cut and hedge cutting going on ,

Thanks for the suggestions Megawatt and Barney. We are not going until the Tuesday so hopefully the roads will be a bit quieter and not as many police?
I think we will try both those routes, they seem pretty good.

Rode through yesterday, 1 of my favourite stretches of road is the A487 from Machynlleth to Dolgellau, I'd do it more often but as I've not long passed my test, I've had to tackle it in the 4 wheeled guise
