Had a call from a interested party as bike is now on evil bay......"One question mate.....has the clutch recall been done" ?? So does anyone know about recalls on the RR8 ?????
I'm sure there is a honda site where you can put chassis number in and it tells you if any outstanding or your Reg to dealer tommrrow they will tell you or interested party
I had an RR8. From what I can remember there were 2 recalls on it (one was clutch). I bought it new in 2010 so the recall work was done at the PDI. The Headstock was punched with a marking (near to the chassis number) to signify that the recall work has been done.
Just found this "Water pump retaining clamp = Jubilee clip was the first recall Clutch replacement was the 2nd recall My bike has had both done and the dealer has indicated this with a stamp on the recall letter I received from Honda UK and 2 punch marks on the headstock of the bike to visually indicate it has been done."
Will look into it...... Woke this morning to see it has sold "via evilbay"...... now the anxious wait......see if he ll turns up as his message said "Hi I've one your auction and would like to collect bike 1 evening next week" !!........gonna ask for a non refundable deposit !
Sounds genuine......and the speed he wanted to pay deposit probably shows he is as he just phoned me........sad days to see her go.......great bike !
it was nt overpriced...... had a shed load of texts and calls.......... maybe I should of asked for 5k !!!! lol
Yes mate as above- it's on the Honda site under recalls- there is some other stuff about radiator clips and this clutch issue it lists the mainly 08 bikes ( in the UK )with Vin numbers that are subject to a recall. It's a bit confusing cos the numbers don't seem to be totally sequential, presumably because after they are made they are distributed all over the world. But I got mine after the Honda guarantee had expired and knew about the recall. I took it to Metropolis in Greenwich which was a top outlet, sadly closed now and said ' I think this should have had a clutch recall about 4 years ago'.I'm told that the headstock Vin plate get a * ( or .) type stamp when it's done and I did nt appear to have one, plus I did nt see anything in the owners service book so I asked them to check the on- line history and there was no record of the work being done. Honda agreed to do it. I was pretty surprised but was nt going to say no. It went to Metro's Honda outlet and they did the recall. Can't say I noticed a problem before. Can say I've not had one since although it sharpened the action up a bit, but you would expect that with a full service anyway. Which I had at the same time. Hope that helps. Best Gary Just noticed the earlier post! Oh well. Doing too many things at once but backs up what Ian says from an experiential perspective. Spot on.
