Hi All, a friend is offering me some new (unused) Bridgestone tyres that he purchased (new) in 2011. They have been in cool dry storage since (garage) since then.

Now I know rubber degrades over time - but how long? How long can tires sit on a shelf and still be reliable

Mate who runs a tyre shop says if not perished in any way they should be fine! However any signs of perishing don't use

Tyres five years or older should be inspected regularly. Tyres over the age of ten should be binned. Assuming there is no sign of perishing or the tyres being out if shape when fitted, the chances are they'll be fine. Just keep an eye on them.
