Just returned from a nine day jaunt round europe , overnight crossing from Hull to Zeebrugge , got off the ferry about 10 ish then a 430 mile trip down to the Black forest area , landed at the first port of call at 1930hrs ,Stayed in a lovley guest house call the Grunenburg , It had a honesty bar where you put one euro in a jam jar in exchange for a 500ml bottle of German beer
Great ain't it! Love a euro trip... Go anywhere else other than the black forest? Germany is fantastic mate ain't it.
Just afer we had arrived it lashed it down for about 12hrs lol , The next day Sunday it was drizzling till dinner time so we all decided to go to a beer festival in a near by village , Monday morning and the sun was out so a trip up to Baden Baden which was about 100 miles away was on , going on the B500 what a road , and mega views
Tuesday morning sun out again , on to the next stop another 230 miles ,the Tyroll valley area of Austria , Staying in a very nice village called Seefled , The journey there took us on some fantastic roads , went on the Fern pass , hair pin after hair pin , got to the hotel for around 1500hrs , had to buy a pass each before we entered Austria cost 4.5 Euros
Wednesday , at last off to ride the Sillvertta pass , 50 miles down the motorway and we were there , Went through a few villages then got to a toll both , 11 euros each , again what a road , lived up to all expectations , the views at the top where fantastic , then the ride down ,some of the right hand hair pin where that tight it was 1st gear with clutch in to get round , we contined on when we got to the end of the pass for about another 30 odd miles lots of twisties , then got back onto the motorway for about 100 miles to get back to our village , what we didnt expect on the motorway was to spend half of the journey going through tunnels , one of them was 10 miles long , was very warm in the middle of it , got charged 8.5 euros for the pleasure of that one
Thursday , again another long ride 450 miles up to to a little village called Dollendorf , staying at Sliders Guest House ( 15mins from the Nurburg Ring) , Any way nice and sunny so no probs , left Austria at around 8 in the morning and got there for around 4 ish , lots of autobahns so covered lots of miles quickly saw 150 a couple of times ( actual speed with speedo healer installed ) , on arrival was greeted by a guy called Andy ,I thought I have seen him some where before , then it clicked it was the guy that has just done the fastest time ever round the ring on an R1, The guy that owned the Hotel was called Brendan Keirle ( Ex PB magazine bike tester) , what a result , Straight away Andy asked us all if we wanted to go to the ring and do a few laps following him , three of us declined due to been absolutley shattered , but my friend Gav on a well modified ZRX1200 took up his offer , did 2 laps following him , then Andy took him round on the back of Gav's own bike , in Gav's in words he said he absolutley thrashed the tits off it lol , Again at this guest house a honesty bar and a full English if required for a few extra euros
Friday , off to explore the area and go up to the Ring , There was a track day going on so we where unable to go on track , but we all had a good walk round checking out some of the cars , no signs of a shortage of money there , some proper motors , After lunch we headed out on the bikes on a route of roads Brendan gave us , again fantastic roads and mega views
Saturday , heading back to Zeebrugge 234 miles for the ferry back to Hull , left Dollendorf on a route Brendan gave us to cover first eighty miles or so never been on roads as good , then got on to motorways all the way up to the ferry port , All in all a fantastic trip , all the people we met , all the food and drink we had , it really could have not been any better , this was the first Euro trip I have been on but it will not be the last , the Blade covered 1938 miles in total and never missed a beat , did not burn any oil either lol , big thanks to you guys on here that helped out with with a few bits for the bike
Looks great - you did not try and do too much, and made sure that you got to digs in good time to relax before dinner - I've made the mistake a few times of trying to do too much, now of the opinion that 'less is more' really can apply to bike trips. Its a cracking area - have been to a few of those places inc the Sylveretta pass - you should have turned round at the end and gone back over it to miss some of the motorway - I only did it one way but wish I'd been able to go both ways. Will add some pics of the same area if I get chance.
