    Hi
Some help needed please , I,m looking at an import CBR 900 RR 1992 model next week as a possible new edition to my toys. Does anyone know what the differences are between a Jap import and U.K import model and is there anything I should be looking at regarding possible issues with that model.

    Hi Darren.

Just in case no one on here is able to help, there are some good authorities on another FireBlade forum who specialise in the earlier models: https://www.fireblades.org/forums/honda-fireblade/

In the interim though, I would be wary of mileage and ability to verify mileage. There does seem to be a host of Japanese imports at dealers specialising in 'barn finds'. We have to look at the reason a 1992 bike finds its way to UK. Purchased on the cheap to make profit is the usual reason. On that basis, to my mind, I would rather wait to purchase such a bike from an enthusiast than from a profiteerer.

I don't wish to discourage anyone from buying a Blade, it's just that in this case I would exercise caution.;)

As standard it should be restricted due to Japanese law to 112mph I think it is. However I had a Jap import 400rr from the same era and the restriction was easily overidden with a little black box plugged in which deristricted it.

Also you will more than likely find it will be more to insure than a UK bike as UK insurers don’t like JDM imports so worth getting a quote early on to see how much more it is.
