Towards the end of last year I got the SP serviced and had Honda's tracker offer fitted. I brought the bike home and parked it, bought a lithium battery charger and took off the seat to fit it when I found this. DSC_1718.JPG

So I contacted the dealer. Nothing to do with us, we don't remove the rear cowl in a service, they said. I politely pointed out that the tracker was likely in there. Then they went quiet for several weeks, ignoring emails. Clearly hoping I would go away.

I then copied in the owner, a gentleman who may or may not have a surname like a tan colour. He promised to investigate but was evasive. After much chasing, I got a call. Bring your damaged panel in and we'll replace it. I asked for a replacement to be ready so we could swap, but when I arrived there was no replacement. Leave it with us...

So I got a call to say they had a new panel for me, so off I trotted to pick it up. A suspiciously wrapped parcel was offered. I opened it in the car to reveal a used and damaged panel. So back in the shop we went to vent my displeasure.

Some more email discourse with the owner ensued with promises of action in a week or 2. To cut a long story short, I threatened legal action and got Honda involved. I pick up a new panel later this week...

This isn't the first time I've crossed swords with this shower. So be very wary if you're thinking of dealing with a Manchester Honda dealer that rhymes with lady garden....

I live in Lincoln but if my bike needed any sort of proper work doing, I would still use CJ Ball in Norwich.

Bloody hell’ the bare faced cheek of them! What a load of hunts! You shouldn’t have needed to go through the Agro! Bet all the mechanics went quiet when asked what had happened!

fair enough, mistakes happen, we all make them! But it’s the way issues are resolved and customer service is key. From the way you’ve described it, lack lustre is a bit of an exaggeration!

glad you’ve got it all (hopefully) sorted now mate :)

Well we'll have it sorted or they'll get the invitation to court ;)
    I quite fancy it.

Earlier this year my son's new CBR500R had an issue the with the pillion seat where the metal ring latches to the bike. At the 600 mile service I raised it. You can buy a new one was the reply. Eh I said. There's clearly a manufacturing fault, can you raise it with Honda? Reluctantly they said they would do so.

Cue a few weeks wait and the fob off of we're waiting to hear from Honda on a couple of occasions. So I contacted Honda who had heard nothing. 2 days later I had a new pillion seat. They're neither competent nor honest. If there is one thing I despise, it is liars.

You might say that, I couldn't possibly comment.

And that's key. The damage isn't the issue, it is the charade and deceit that followed.

Hate reading things like this. Pay top dollar for dealer servicing and get this sort of treatment.

I wont use my local dealer, dont like their attitude and prices are insane.

That is awful service! I wouldn’t be spending another penny in there!

Slightly off topic but does relate somewhat (and apologies for hijacking slightly). My dad just bought a new GS, he traded his old one in for it (with full history from a VERY competent local mechanic (Paul Nobbs - and yes, that is his real name) they tried to offer £1k less as it wasn’t a BMW history. But if the main service centres try to fob off on this level then basically a full manufactures service history is almost laugh able? What else do they lie about?

Disclaimer: not saying all dealers are bad/uncaring/not trustworthy etc. I’m sure 99% of dealers/mechanics take great pride in their work and customer satisfaction levels.

I usually do my own servicing, but the warranty necessitated the dealer service. I prefer doing my own other than the valve check which is a swine of a job. I also make parts for NS400Rs

Awesome mate! What do you use to make your parts? Machinist or fabricator?

Rubber and plastic. So inlet manifolds chain sliders, all rubber bushings, mirror set and the odd bit of bodywork.

A mate does the 500 conversion kits.

That’s really cool! I’ve done quite a bit of machining for Yam OW01 lately, should be doing some yokes and some more rearsets this week. If you need any help with machining let me know :)

Well Hunts provided a new panel after the threat of some county court action and the intervention of Honda.

But they've supplied the 2018 part, not the 2017. You truly couldn't write this.

My email to Mr Brown below. Copied into Honda.

    Both
I have picked up the panel today. According to the parts fiche, you have provided the wrong part. As you should be aware, mine is a 2017 model for which the suffix is D60ZA. The one you have provided is for the 2018 bike with the suffix D80ZA. The red is different according to Honda.
Please advise what is going on. This has been a sorry mess of incompetence, rudeness, deceit and complete disregard for the customer. I need this sorted ASAP. An invitation to the County Court awaits if you don't get this sorted. We need to discuss compensation for my wasted time and money making numerous trips to sort
