A cat jumped out on me riding my bike... and I hit it, it went under the bike and the bike went flying.

Bike landed on me then slid about 20m...

It was a fun few hours on that spinal board waiting to hear if I'd broken my back, hip and shoulder - thankfully no breaks... all badly bruised.

Any advice on where I can go to try out new kit near to Reading?? I need new boots that have flex in the ankle so I can reach the floor with both feet (I'm 5ft4 on a standard height Fireblade)

I am in pain... but curing it with tramadol and red wine :) - oh... and online "window" shopping for new motorbike gear!!!

Bloody cats, hope you heal soon.

People normally say Daytona boots are good for the vertically challenged.

No help now I know but when I did my advanced driving test years ago my instructor always said NEVER deviate off course for a small animal etc.

Hitting a kerb, going through a hedge or hitting on-coming traffic etc is far worse for the Motorist, Bike or Car.

Always aim straight for it, if it's in ya way and hope it moves, if not, then hitting it head on usually results in a better outcome for you, if not the animal.

GWS Ro, hope ya Kids are sympathetic when U get back to School! :)

It was indeed Leibenrood Road... as for deviating - I didn't have time to deviate, only just got my foot onto the brake lever before I hit it. No swerving involved. Hit the thing dead on and it still chucked me down the road. I'm in the process of doing my IAMs... got myself a grade 1 on Sundays ride!! Wouldn't believe it after seeing me bin it this afternoon :(

As for the offer of a lift... thank you very much! :) Very kind :) might PM you to take you up on that!

I was blown away by the amount of people that stopped and helped me... and to the police officer that checked my bike over for me and gave me reassurance that it wasn't too bad.

The cat died :( I asked the police to go looking for it and they found it... and thankfully a passer by lived local and recognised the cat. The police took it home to them. Very sad :(

Ouch, home you're ok - wine and drugs sorts everything. There's motorcycle mega store in Swindon but that might be too far or J&s next to the H-cafe in berinsfield near Oxford.
