Si, how do you manage to get your bike in the condition it's in and keep it like that whilst riding in our less than perfect weather conditions throughout the year? Seriously though do you have some sort of mega strip down when you get a new bike to clean it up to your standard and if so what is it please? Any one else care to chip in too?
Hi mate... I just clean it after every ride dude, or at most a couple of days after a ride... No strip down at all....in fact I've only ever had the fairings off once, and today I took the nose cone off for the first time ever with lee. Inside it was mint, I was ecpxpecting it to be filthy lol.... i bought it new in jan 2011, ran it in during ice and snow, so not as if I've babied it, and thrown near 16k miles on it in 2 yrs. my routine it rinse it off with cold water, wash it, wax and polish, and wd40 and acf50 regularly... That's it. Lees and givovers bikes are as clean as mine mate, as is garyb's and every other one I've seen...all well looked after mate, so it's not just my bike dude. OCD helps too.
ocd and the right cleaning products. when it came to sell my last bike I got it the same condition as it was when I first picked it up and that was IMHO because I was using a really good wax polish.I swear by the meguiars range.a good wax makes the dirt just fall off when it comes to washing it again.also a few good cloths are a must, no point having the best cleaning product and a cheap nasty polishing cloth.
Deffo an easier task, and better esults if you have the right kit. I like the Meguiars products as well and the dirt has a hard time sticking to it. Alblade that's impressive mate. Fireblade moto-x!
Stop it you. If the rest of us lived in a swamp then we'd probably give up on our self respect too after a while.
There are 2 groups of very different blade owners on here I have noticed over the past few years Thoughts who love mods to make their bike very individual and shiney Others who say track there bike and are not as fussed how the bike looks, I say not fussed, I mean Not that OCD lol I love keeping my bike clean, glad I do not commute. But not that worried now a days about cleaning every ride. I like to ensure it's given a good check over on a regular bases. More about making it work for me with mods than bling And
I ride mine in all conditions but try to avoid the salt. Which reminds me I must clean mine today as it's Stinking and covered in grit :s
Thanks for all the replies guys, I don't think there's any harm in a mild case of ocd but each to their own as they say.
Im OCD as well. Other day my bike was already clean and sparckling but whilst working on a mates bike I stopped to apply another coat of auto glym HD wax. Let it set and then buffed it off to make it shine even more ;-/
It does help when your bike is draped in CF.... that stuff can go without a clean forever and still looks like its fresh out the box when the sun hits it! basically just cover your bike in carbon haha
What is the best stuff for cleaning bike actually? I just use mucoff in extreme situations but most of the time its mr muscle and wipe clean, followed by bike spray all over the damn thing..
well, the tyre shine to get the dull plastics and engine casings and exposed metal areas mint and better than new..waterproof too. A bottle has lasted me 4 yrs…. The Ultimate compound to get rid of swirls and scratches. The Utimate polish to fill in the defects ( the polish has fillers that build up on the scratches etc) And the Ultimate wax to seal it in. It really is mega stuff. It aint cheap, but you only need a bit of it, and you need applicators and some good micro fibre polishing cloths.
was just about to ask that as iv always used dodo for my car and just used same on the bike, but fancy a change
