Took a trip up to Knockhill today as there was a track day on.

Was met by this sad sight. Apparently the guy bought this for the road and left his track bike at home so he could try out the blade. Second lap in the first session of the day and he gets T'boned by some guy going into a bend on his GSXR! Less than two minutes on the bike and this!

I'd be claiming off the twats insurance as an on road accident if it was a road bike, if not, then i hope he'll have to make a claim off his own insurance.

Now he's got 2 trackbikes!..........no sorry I really feel for the guy. This is the point I was trying to get across to Yorkshire Tyke on his first trackday at Cadwell. It doesn't matter how conservatively you ride, it doesn't have to be your fault.

It's definiatly a road bike. Reg plate in full view.
    As for claiming on insurance.
Fat or no chance mate. Even if you tried the under hand tactics of dragging the bike out onto the road trick there's 2 forms with your signature floating around that would say you gave up all rights to that, track days. You pays your money, and you takes your chance.
Unfortunately , this poor sod lost. :(

As in the circuit? Nope, not as far I a could read. Everything is pretty much tied up in the indemnity forms you sign on the day relinquishing the circuit and organiser from any responsibility.
Some Companies i belive offer track bike insurance. Tbh mate I've not looked to deep into it.

Just done a quick price, I won't give a link because it's showing my private details.
    Here you go though
For my fire blade to do Oulton park in July insured from the ground up
Is £219 + I pay the first £875 for each and every loss.

And that guys is why peeps don't insure on track days

Guy broke his collarbone apparently so got off quite lightly compared to his bike. I didn't talk to him cause he was in medical but the culprit was told not to go back out on track.
Was down seeing the rest of the bikes in the paddock and this would have been the only road bike as far as I could see. Some serious cash thrown at some serious bikes. The drain on the grid due to tyre warmers alone could cause blackouts. Lol
It was also a practice evening for racing over the weekend and the track bikes looked more professional than the race bikes as well.
As for track insurance my wee cousin was attending his first just last week. He was quoted £120 for the two hour event with a £1200 excess and fairings were NOT covered. Wow!

I took my R1on a track day after only having it for a couple of months, and the second to last session one of the guys I went with binned his bike . I couldn't bring myself to take it out on the last session as I did wanna throw 10k on bike down the track& said to myself that if I do another track day it's going to be on a hire bike

    Similar position chinny.
Wanted to do track days for as long as I remember.
I looked at one side of the bike and though, that would cost a couple of grand to put right, so I just bought a seperate bike for the job. No it's not a blade, bit it's still up there for the giggle factor.

Watch out for those hire bikes Chinny, I believe they take a 500 note deposit in case you crash and I've heard tales that you lose the lot even if you only scrape the thing!
