Anyone else had this happen with the fairing decal? I noticed it was starting to peel when giving the bike a wash Not that big a deal but curious to see if it's just mine that's been poorly fitted or if its all. I sorted it with a small bit of clear vinyl which I cut to size and placed over the area and wrapped round the back of the fairing panel. Has worked a treat :)

Had a feeling I wasn't the only one. As I said a minor issue but still shouldn't really happen. Probably could've got it replaced under warranty but couldn't be bothered with the hassle.

My sp did the same.. Bad design by Honda. The heat from the top hose to the rad gives off to much heat thus causing the glue to fail

Not so much bad design as Honda being cheap and not applying a clearcoat lacquer over the top of the decals!

The lack of the clear coat was what put Colin off stumping up the difference to trade in his 2010 against the SP and instead dropped some doh on ohlins/brembo upgrades on his instead!

Am I right in saying the only ones that are lacquered are on the tank?

Yeah I would agree. My quick fix seems to have worked for now, I'm just careful when washing.

Soonbedead (Tristram) had his 06 fairing decal done twice through Honda. To this day I think his bike has only done 5.5k.
Maybe worth asking Honda to put it right?

Possibly easiest way to tell is lightly run your nail across the decal and if your nail slides over with just a little drop off the edge,
but does not catch the decal it's lacquered if your nail catches the edge of the decal it not been lacquered and care needs to be taken not to catch the edges during washing and such.

The dealers would need to replace the affected peeling decals when they are carrying out warranty repairs but this can lead to slight colour differences if the bikes seen a lot of sun or had harsh cleaning chemicals used on it which fades the decals slightly. The dealers will only replace the peeling decal not the whole set of decals!

I've replaced a panel under warranty for the same reason.

It could come down to the dealer who is dealing with the claim as I have seen a dealer only fit one of the affected side panel Honda wing decals that was peeling and leaving the rest.

Guess its a case of not all dealers are equal MrB.

Absolutely, one of my constant criticisms with warranty is the inconsistency of their decisions and yes all depends on how the claim is handled.

    Fairing Decal

Same on my HRC seems it lifts even when the Bike has not been used ... This is one of several quality issues with this Blade ... Chain guard not straight etc etc Mr Honda needs to check more closely before boasting about build quality

Mine was the same when I picked it up from new, they replaced the panel under warranty but it took them 3 new panels from Honda before they got one that didn't have the same problem  the replacement has held up ok so far though

I think it's maybe a little too much penny pinching, but the overall quality of the whole bike isn't a patch on my 04 R1 and Honda is supposed to be renowned for it's quality ...... certainly not in my experience it isn't

I have to agree the build quality overall is not what you would expect from Honda and will certainly consider other manufacturers when looking to change

The majority of older machines were far better put together. Modern stuff just isn't as good in terms of quality.
