been using a halfords foot pump with built in digital gauge which after tuesdays trackday has proved itself to be wildly inaccurate, recommendations for a decent gauge please
I've got one of these; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Michelin-...975?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2800f25f67 Or you try this one which is a bit cheaper; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Michelin-...77-/281419069801?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
Is it just the gauge you want or pump as well? As I use an older version of these for pumping my tyres up and the gauge is accurate http://www.halfords.com/motoring-tr...sure-gauges/michelin-high-power-tyre-inflator
I just use one of these, cheap, delivered for under a fiver http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LCD-Digit...470?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5674d103a6
The only sure way is to compare to a known accurate or calibrated master gauge. Digital is not any more accurate than a dial type. If your at the track get the tyre people to set a pressure then compare this to your own and not differential for future adjustment.
I use a halfords digital one, couldn't tell you whether it's accurate or not as I've never checked it against another one.
Road tyres are not as critical as long as they are at least kept not visibly soft. Fast road riders would feel the difference but track tyre pressures critical to correct pressures.
I use this for the track - reliable and has a handy pressure release valve. I use it also to check my road bike pressures from time to time before going out too - saves 50p each time! Just be sure to get the 0-60PSI version. Got it from Demon Tweeks - http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motor.../longacre-standard-tyre-pressure-gauge-2-inch Also, well worth investing in some angled tyre valves too. I run Bridgeport valves in both my road and track bike - so much easier to get to them than having to fanny about trying to get between the discs, plus you don't need to replace them during every tyre change.
