How difficult it is? Just plug and play. My desktop is a few years old but still able to run most new games on full settings. I have nice 24" screen and would love to be able to burn family holiday to blu ray and play on my PS3. instead of having to only add 40 mins of high quality onto a DVD They are only about £50-80 for the optical drives now but can anyone give me some advice before I buy and where is best to buy from? thinking something like LG BH10LS38 10x Blu-Ray Rewriter DVD+/-RW Lightscribe SATA - Retail | BH10LS38.AUAR
I don't think it's quite as straight forward as dropping in a combi drive. Have a look at this. How To Install A Blu-ray Burner - ComputerShopper.com But most of the concerns seem to revolve around playback. As your's is a gaming machine I can't see it being a ball ache.
cheers Ken looking at got Phenom multicore model CPU and 8 gig or ram when I get home i'm going to do the cyberlink download tool to see if my desktop should be able to handle the blu ray. think it should. I have a HD lead from the desktop to screen as it's running on max and when I managed to watch a blu ray on my PC once I aquired a HD movie it's looks mint
I've never fitted one before, but it should be no different from any other optical drive, as far as I can see. Just don't forget to check the jumpers. Any half decent display card should be sufficient and if you're running modern, resource hungry games already I can't see any snags Matt.
Easier way to play HD video direct from PC on PS3 without burning to disc is via media server (eg, TVersity) TVersity - Home @kpone - manually set jumpers are pretty much a thing of the past I think (for hard drives anyway, I'm assuming also for optical drives)
Oh sorry mate. It's a piece of piss as long as you've got the right connector on your mobo. The drive you mention has a SATA connector. You just need to ensure thats what you've got on the other end and a cable to make it happen.
I was just reading up on auto configuration. So now I'm in the know. What will they think of next. I'm off to sort my floppy disks.
just did the blu ray adviser and got good results passed on everything other than having a blu ray player or software which I don't have. So should be able to add a optical drive
Ok piss easy to fit. ordered one last week arrived today. fitted in about 2 mins. taking a bit longer to upload the software but we is rocking on blu ray now on my desk top
Building 'em usually is a small portion of yellow fluid, and quite satisfying when they fire up. When...
