    Hello clever types.
Im really missing having a DSLR and find myself looking at catalogues and websites at the offerings.
My question is...I have bugger all money and what the best I can have (obviously).
I have been looking at the 1100d and the 650d mostly for money reasons as well as I have had good experiences with canon gear.
    But
my second question is I Have a EOS500 along with 2 lenses. Will these lenses work on the cams im looking at and what do you guys reckon of the 2 models Ive mentioned or do you have any other suggestions.
    thanks in advance

it depends if its an eos500d or eos500n Zips.

The D is an efs mount and the N is an ef mount.

Amendment. I just looked it up and the D takes EF and EFS lenses so you should be alright.

If they are ef lenses, yes they will work on an 1100d as ef and efs lenses work with it.

I bought the canon 650d last month.
Being a novice I wouldn't recognise any technical differences were it to bite me on the arse.
I love the camera and the ease of use, I really can't fault it.
Still learning, and I doubt I will ever use it to its full potential?
    But all the same

    I love it :)

The 500 was EF. The 500d is EFS so it will take EF and EFS lenses so you should be okay Zips.

It's all horses for courses mate. We've got one of these at work

Probably the best, most well sorted camera I've ever used but limited, for me, by its fixed lens. That monster Si's got is the current weapon of choice for any self respecting pro and is absolutely state of the art. It's so good that they shoot television programmes with it.

But I've done my bit of lugging SLRs and bags of kit around and I hate the limitations of most compacts so I've just done a deal with Father Christmas and split the difference with him for one of these.

Don't know either of them well enough to comment really mate but look here and compare the two.

    Digital Photography Review

Their reviews are considered necessary reading in the business.

I bought my daughter the 1100d for her birthday. It's a great camera, easy to use for a beginner , great for the more advanced shooter and produces great images, even more so when partnered with top glass. However, the 650d is newer, has more bells and whistles, better built and seems better at higher ISO, which is the one I would go for, purely for cleaner higher iso and fps. It's the photographer that produces good images, the camera is just the tool to capture the light.... Go with whichever you prefer, but try and go to a shop and have a play with both.
Btw, currys have 2x 16gig Sandisk class 10 SDHC cards for £20, good price.
