    Hi Everyone,

Expecting new blade next week. i was going to add some crash bungs. I have never had any previously. Wondering what ones/types to go for. They have quoted me for drilled & non-drilled crash mushrooms. Not really sure what to go for. Any advice appreciated.

You cant go wrong with R+G drilled bungs. Ive crashed with and without them. They do take the brunt of the crash and can save you money (depending on how bad the crash is) I've heard the non drill sort arnt as good. But havnt tried them personally.

+1 for the R&G's. Saved a lot of damage on a low-side. Solid stuff.

+2 R&G drilled. Non drilled ones will snap off with the weight of a 200kg bike slamming down on them and become useless.

My last two bikes I haven't bothered fitting any.
Hope that isn't tempting fate though.

The term, "borrowed time" comes to mind.

Go for Drilled R&G ones, they're only £65 compared to £200 for the Non Drilled.

As said, non drilled can bend the brackets they're mounted on or even snap off, either way it will fail in it's protection if they do.

Encourage the Dealer to use a Cone Cutter rather than a Hole Saw, it gives a far neater finish to said hole.

I had a set of R&G's before my off last year. They definitely saved me from a lot of damage, can't go wrong with them. They bent so much that the bolt was very close to snapping in the engine mount though, so when I replaced them I looked for something that I thought was a better design as they stick out a lot and don't think they would have bent in the same way they did if they didn't protrude so far from the side of the bike. Ended up buying a set of the Woodcraft bungs after a good bit of research. I think they're a better design, although I can't speak from experience. They definitely look a lot, lot better though!

If you must then go for the Gillies tooling ones, Les prone to flipping your bike.
You better off with GB engine covers IMO

Always had R&G, but might be tempted by the Gilles non-drilled ones for next bike as I trust the company. Oh and in a year or so a lot of people may have tested them for me.

    Morning,

Just to let you know that R and G are our most popular crash bungs and we never get any coming back or any complaints about them. We also do Yoshimura and Gilles crash protectors though there may be a bit more of a wait for these.

If you decide that you would like any pricing up then please let me know.

    All the best

    Andy

They do look neater. Given the time I have I have made a decision to go drilled R & G route. Maybe next time though :) Thanks

Ummm. Yeah, I no the downside of crash bungs is the possibility of flip in a high speed crash. Knowing me I'am more likely to do something daft like drop the bike turning right or u-turn at 5/10mph lol

Have to agree with most of the guys on here! The R&G aero's saved my bike from being a write off when I got knocked off

Since you offered I wouldn't mind some pricing for crash protection for my bike as my recent slide has cost me over 1.5k in bodywork which mostly would have been avoided with crash bungs and engine casings.....

Don't like the look of the R&G sliders. Woodcraft looks much better. Will probably go with them... thanks.

Any thought's on swing arm and fork sliders?

This happened to the 2005 Blade I sold to a female friend who dropped it in front of me: but it did absorb the initial impact and the bike had only light gravel rash. If it didn't absorb, what are the chances of the shock breaking part of the alloy casing it was mounted to?

R&G for me on my race zx6r BUT as scooby said a nice slide on the road and all will be good as soon as they hit the grass or similar flip and flip again if grass aint nice and muddy . I had them fitted free on my blade by dealer and this is the remains of my ZX6R one from rockingham other than this scratch on rear tail scratched genny cover and tip of clutch lever scratched.
