as per title how many of you have noticed an increase in the idle surging
when you fitted an aftermarket exhuast.also have any of you found a way
to fix this, heard the flapper mod helps cure it ?

my g.p.r surged like crazy with the baffles out but when i put them back in it smoothed it out a little, not perfect but better, you would think the only way to get it perfect is a power commander with a custom map

I read somewhere that the exhausts with a straight link pipe can get a bit lopey whereas with an s bend shaped link this doesn't happen. Kinda what made me go for the M4, what exhaust do you have?

The Yoshi R77 made mine sound lumpy on idle, probably noticed because it was much louder than the standard can? However I'm back to the standard can and the Yoshi and PCV will be going on ebay when I get round to it.

It's because the fuel map doesn't suit the exhaust any more. To fix it you need to adjust the map, or "adjusting" the can by fitting a baffle often helps.

I've found I have a massive flat spot around 2500-3000 rpm.

I've got a PCV with the map loaded for my Arrow exhaust. Next stop custom map me thinks :)

I borrowed a custom map for the same exhaust and air filter but still
have the surge.will get a custom map later in the year but wanted to
see if the custom map 100% cured it before I got it done or was there
    any other cures.

When I fitted a Leo and decat to my CB1000r I had the same problem even with a PCV and custom map, idle was higher and slightly erratic. This was cured by a ECU reset.

By doing a reset the ECU resets a couple of parameters and adjusts to the current set-up this includes idle speed, give it go!

    ECU reset instructions:

    Disconnect battery
    Reconnect after at least 10min
Start up the beast without touching the throttle
Let to run until the fan kicks in turns off again
flick the kill switch off then on again

Mines still hunts on idle after a custom tune.. that's with baffle out. Baffle in, it's fine.. back pressure makes all the difference.

Last time I did this is took a while to reach the temps to activate fan. Also I suggest to disconnect the battery the night before. Many have done this on the CB1000r with great results.
Apparently this is what dealers do when they receive a brand new bike.
    Hopefully this will help.

yeah I heard about the dealer starting the 08 and not touching the
throttle but I had assumed this was for the throttle body settings.
    cheers again
