so I am going to do the air flapper mod, cant believe I have already left it this long to do.so for those that have do it already I have a question. I know you remove the two air duct covers that lets you at the diaphragms but its the next bit I have seen done differently. some pull off the air tubes and block them like the 04-07 models and some remove them completely. then the springs, seen some say a long screwdriver will unclip them and others say stick your finger in the diaphragm hole and unclip it. so if you have done the mod what way did you do it and how easy/hard was it?? cheers
My mod was on the 12 I left all springs flaps in tubes they stay fully open and it would not make a notable difference removing them I don't think on mine there is a vacuum hose coming out left side frame spar I put a small bolt in it and zip tied . I removed solenoid s air canister taped 2 plugs up and hid behind nose fairing . Will not throw a warning light

I got mine out with a long screw driver. I was a little bit of a fiddle but nothing hard about it. You can take off the diaphragms and then add a piece of platic and seal it all up, or you can just leave them in there, which is what I done. Just depends on how far you want to go.
In my dumbness I thought the flapper mod was about the exhaust flapper thing so did not know it was in the air tubes. What benefit does this do removing/blacking th pipes?
well if it's just a matter of removing and blanking off then all the better. having taken off my fairing i'm now finding out what i need or not
it also helps smooth out the throttle response low down. MCN done a before and after dyno map to prove the point when rogue racing first posted the mod.
Hmm this is interesting as I find low down power a touch on the snatchy side. Let us know what you reckon Phantom
I found my bike snatchy also before I changed the exhaust and removed the flapper. Couple that with the powercommander and the bike is so much smoother. (oddly though it makes the bike feel slower, but that's only down to the fact that there isn't any peeks and troughs in the power delivery) I find it best when using the throttle mid corner, where there is no more nervous twitching (both from the bikes and my rear end)
I bet that was the RR4-7 model though. If you read around for real evidence on the RR8 onwards model, it doesn't seem to have any effect.
yeah it was the RR5 they done it on. read a bit on 1000rr.net and they were saying it helped low down throttle response and also made the bike sound better?
I did it on my RR6 and don't what effect it had as I fitted other stuff at the same time. The combo of BMC filter and intake flapper mod did change the induction sound a bit.
