My son has said he will buy me some airbag leathers as they sound good, but I know nothing about them, has anyone had any experience with these, are they any good for the road
I don't want him spending a load of money on something that is no good.

Well as far as I know they are mandatory in moto gp and wsbk so they must be good as you put it and clearly offer superior protection over non air bag leathers!

I say.....if you can afford them and you think you need them, then yeah go for it. Until you've had a really heavy crash I suppose you'll never know how much they work!

My last Ixon suit was 'air bag ready' but I never felt the need to get an air bag fitted......but then I've never crashed, touch wood o_O

Agree with Paulo, and if they are being bought as a present why not just say thank you.

I don't want to think, I wish I had got some different ones, or they are bulky and uncomfortable and I should have just gone for a new standard set of leathers with the latest fitted armour, no charging, no subscription, and airbag ones have to be serviced now and again at a fair price

It's the future. get them bought. Most regular trackday riders have them now. The market price varies, just a vest being the cheapest, RST leathers probably next in line and then moving on from there. The airbag system is normally managed by In&motoion and has a £10 a month subsciption.

I’m not paying for any hardware that demands a subscription.
