I was looking at removing the baffle today, removed the little plug on the swinging arm side and started to undo the bolt, then thought what’s to stop it dropping down inside the carbon outer cover. mmmm, so did it up again and scratched my head for a while thinking of magnetising the hex key but still not sure so walked away for now. Am I right in thinking once the bolt is out you simply pull out the baffle with a cloth and snipe nose pliers or is it a bit more complicated then that. More of an issue could be getting the bolt back in again if I want to put the baffle back etc. Anyone got any bright ideas or tips. Or am I just going about this all the wrong way and the can needs to come of first. Thank you in advance.
Hi Freedom, the way I removed it was to put blue tack on the long end of the allen key then carefully pulled it through the hole without touching the sides. The baffle should come out easily after a spray of WD40 and a good tug with a couple of fingers in the hole (dont lol) Putting it back is a different story tho. Hope this helps btw dont use pliers because they tend to flatten the round of the baffle. Also you may find without the baffle it runs a bit lumpy at low revs, unless you have a power commander of course
If you do drop it into the baffle then i retrieve using a magenetic stick as it only drops a few inches anyway................... but this assumes that you have a normal mild steel bolt in there and not a stainless version as these are not magnetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you can not get it out remove the can (easy with an Akra not so easy with an R77) and use a broom handle up the other end, Oh err! A quick thump and job done, saves marking up the baffel
Thanks Guys. Was also thinking of removing mounting and twisting can round anti clock wise to give more room to get at the bolt but on reflection its maybe better to just remove the whole can and make life easy for myself. Thanks again. One last question, if I remove the baffle how much extra din does it create, so much that I will get nicked or just enough to make you smile.
It's not too loud made. Just makes a proper good quality rumble. I fired mine up for the first time in weeks today and as you said it put a smile on my face instantly.
I managed to remove my bolt and baffle with the can still in place... although I think this was more luck than judgment. sounds nice with it removed but not to loud
Sorry just catching up onnthe information as ive just bought a 2012 model and converting to track. Question : how do you put the vaffle back in tho as im worried about the DB level for UK track when noise restrictions are added at some
