Have an rr8 and looking to change out the standard can just wondered what the general opinion was about akrapovik versus yoshimura as this 2 seem to be the most popular and also noticed that some buy from the states for cheaper price is the savings worth it after tax import duty. Any opinions welcome.

Just depends on which 1 you like the look of best to be honest.
I personally prefer the look of the Akra, but know many that say the same about the Yoshi.

Even with taxes paid, buying from the likes of Biohazard in the US (I think that's what the place is called) will save you money.

I'd imagine this will be a close run race, but I'd prefer the acrapovic.

    Hi Andy,

How loud are those racefits, not seen or heard one in the flesh, but do like the shape of them

Go for one with an end cap as you can fit a baffle if needed, but without yes they are LOUD! Bit more so than the yoshi

Racefits are just too loud IMO and I prefer the Yoshi to Akra cos the Yoshi is slightly louder.

Interestingly the stainless R77 resonates much more than the carbon which has a lovely whine to it.

I have full R77 system with CF end can :)

Yes they are loud , as sps says you can get a black edition with a growler end on which takes a baffle or just go for the Racefit growler

There is plenty of YouTube videos around of people demonstrating it's sound but tbh you don't get anywhere near the full effect unless your next to it

JWRusk bike looks well smart think the carbon can is the way to go notice the foot pegs are black is that standard or have you done this yourself as have though about changing out the silver ones when money becomes available.

A lot of track day riders use the Akro because it is one of the quietest cans and looks good, the Yoshi is a tad louder, all depends on whether you want looks or noise to annoy your neighbours, be careful to get one you can fit a baffle to or you will get fed up with it droning in your ears, especially with the cheaper pipes.

Terry, you will be equally happy with Yoshi or Akrapovic. It is indeed a very close call ;)
In any case, however, import from US, even with import duty paid the price will be well below the local.

I have Yoshi R77, carbon, imported from US. I love the look, the noise... and the nice heat shield matching the lower fairing.
Is it loud? I don't think so, with no baffle it was measured 100db during my last trackday...

Yoshi has fitting for the O2 sensor but does not have the built in ECV.

Akro has two model one similar to Yoshi but another one which has a built in ECV (with the cable) and Cat

But nnone has the built in EGBV valve!

So be aware the wahy the engine runs may be affected (better or worse?) and you may have to spend some money on tuning!:)

Thanks bonjo nothing is ever that simple you play with one bit then it has a knock on effect on something else. Had planned on getting a power commander so that should sort out what ever I buy.
