Hello everybody. I'd like to share something with you all. This is Timmy. Proudly sitting on the Repsol Honda his mummy and daddy bought him for his birthday. Before Timmy was allowed out on his new bike his daddy called the insurance company to make sure that Timmy would be completely covered by the law. But the insurance company said that there were too many modifications from factory standard and they would refuse to insure Timmy unless they were removed. So Timmy's daddy went to his shed and returned the bike to total standard configuration so as not to upset the people from the insurance company. And when it was done Timmy went out for his first ride. How proud he was waving to all his friends and neighbours as he whizzed by on his shiny new bike. But sad for Timmy, just around the corner, a drunk, unlicenced, uninsured Romainian lorry driver was reversing out of the cash & carry to start his homeward non stop 18 hour drive home and just as Timmy got to the junction, the battery on his bike went flat. His daddy had had to remove the Optimate continuous charge cable on instruction from the insurance company so the battery no longer had the charge that it could have that would have let Timmy zoom to safety like a slightly bigger Dani Pedrosa. Quick as a flash Timmy reached for the little hooter that grandad had bought him especially for his new bike, so he could hoot loudly and wake the lorry driver up. But no, the hooter was gone, because despite it being much, much louder than the factory fitted one, the insurance company refused to trust its effectiveness was superior. His only hope was to scoot away from danger as quickly as he could but the cheap, factory fitted tyres were not as grippy as the lovely new track tested ones aunty Rose had got him but were now hanging forlornly on a nail on the garage wall back at home because the insurance company would not accepted that dozens of independant testers had deemed them superior in every way, and Timmy just slipped and slided on the wet asphalt. So the lorry ran Timmy over and mangled his little body so much that it was unrecognisable. But unfortunately, the insurance company had insisted that Timmy's daddy remove the sticker on the bike with Timmy's daddy's name, address, phone number and blood group on it so the police man that came to the accident couldn't identify the remains so Timmy was buried in a paupers grave and his mummy and daddy never new what had happened to him. And this was all because some arsehole in planning at the insurance company had thought it was a better idea to outlaw modifications and thus turn revenue away than to add extra to each premium for every mod and thus increase revenue. So please, all members, for your own sake, and the memory of Timmy, boycott these wankers and bankrupt them so the world will be a better place. Thank you.
Those insurance claim adverts are bollocks. When my daughter came off her bike, they told me to take some photos of her gash. And i'm the one who ends up in court!
So are we going to start a thread on naming these companys? Bennetts being at the Top ( NOT A PROUD PLACE TO BE )
Good call there Tan .There are a couple of insurance Threads i started mainly due to cost of renewals ect I was with Nash but now with Swinton good price no issues with alarms or the end can which i told them about and there seemed to be no issues so Swinton seem good .Matbe Matt or Dan can set up a survey and have all the companys on the left hand side and a happy /not happy sliding scale .
Will you be going on your new bike Steve. I heard somewhere that you might be getting one on Tuesday. Go to the Stand. Wait for it to be really busy, then, very loudly, ask them if they would like to explain their justification for this new policy. This should allow all of the potential customers around you a chance to join in. Remain calm, don't be nasty, just exercise your right to shop elsewhere and let them see if they can work out why they suddenlY have fewer customers on their own.
Like it,---- I am with Swindon and there ok, unless you change your bike mid term, then they re-broker it causing you to lose the no claims acrued in that year!
Oh thanks Ken - I had forgot about the new bike on Tuesday! I wont be going on it as the Mrs and one of my lads are coming. I wonder what excuses they will have cooked up by then to justify this policy. Is this policy actually listed by Bennetts? I dont want want to question them without evidence as they may just deny it.
Guys remember these companies are NOT the underwriters they are merely a broker......you need to name and shame the insurance coy behind the terms quoted, they are more responsible in many ways.....
I think can safely say that none of us would touch them with Giv's! I'm with MCE & before that Falcon. I emailed them an exhaustive list of my mods & had it added to the policy schedule, and also noted the date and time of the call as they're recorded. Once it's agreed you're good & I don't mind paying more.
I read about this crap 3 mod sh*t in MCN. I was with Bennetts before and they were crap I'm now with Motorcycle Direct and thay are good.
This is a good point, but as you have to describe all of your details before the information is submitted to any of the underwriters for quotation doesn't this imply that this new restriction is a Bennetts policy rather than the underwriters?
