Unsure but a bit of both. shit myself and closed the throttle so the TC would have not worked after I closed it. and why I got a slapper on. but have found the level of grip of the Dunlops. I played with the TC from almost off to fulling on. set about plus 1 on my bar mount seems to work well and I could feel the TC coming on after going through hairpins and using the throttle hard. My mate was watching and said it made his day that I saved with a little help. it was so quick that it was handy to have another see it to try and work out what I may have done wrong and to try and improve. but Luke did say that the only thing he could see was that I had put the throttle on earlier while I was banked over alot I managed to scrap both hero blobs right down. toe down even though I had my feet tucked in well and got some cracking video on my Gr pro but not the slid which is a bitch
The PB boys were there this weekend too Glad you saved it, wouldnt have been a nice thread to read.. shame you didnt get footage though, would have made the thread better to read
Ah you're mates with Tom?!?! I'm good mates with Tom, raced each other and known each other a few years
Ahh the vag bike can't be missed. Yea he lives local to me and known him for years mate. Was that, the hot track endurance racing he used to do a few years ago?
OK time for a write up: I was later is getting my gear together (I'm normally organized much more) but due to sorting out the garage over the past 2 weeks before only doubled checked all my gear the Thursday before I went Friday morning, it took a few hours to pack Tom's van (who I went with) due to not having track fairings so he took more time to pack stuff around trying to save any damage to the bike. we left Bristol at 2Pm and due to traffic on the M5, M6, M56 pretty much all the way it took 6 hours to get to the circuit. But by 9:30 we had the BBQ on. Gazebo for the bikes and tents up. Sat morning I'm in the Novices. Second trackday so did not want to run before I could walk. what can I say, the day was heaving and loads on track. 40-50+ . well went out and go used to Anglesey. lovely track with a good few Hairpins, and found the last corner before the new pit straight was the one corner I found difficult. Heavy braking into a left that was tighter than it always seems. Lovely banking on some of the corners. My favourite was the fast left after the new pits. Got used the morning and just tried to improve braking later and taking corners fast. Only issue on the Saturday was the ass who passed me on the my favourite left when I was banked over on the rumble strip. to find him riding on the rumble strip. Twat. seemed to be too many people in the novices that were very fast. but enjoyed overtaking the slower riders but did have to do my best to be more aggressive when doing so as I often stayed to long behind them Sunday. Now into the inters. I was more nervous as I did not know what to expect. it was great. much better than the novices. OK many fast riders BUT I still managed to overtake people and felt the overtakes others did on me were safer so had no issues. Then came the second to last session. was slowly catching another rider. after a lap held back before the last hairpin onto the a straight. had the bike banked over and must have opened the throttle more than I have trying to get the run on the guy I was trying to overtake after the hairpin. FECK! back slipped. I closed the throttle due to filing my leathers and managed to get both the front and back sliding. then came the head shake. which almost spat me off the bike. nuts were intact and kept the bike upright. God knows how. came into the pits to take a break. my mate seen this and said it made his day. Unsure if it was the save or the view of me sliding the bike. or both. I had the TC set lower for track in the afternoon. I went out for the last session and got to say it was an amazing weekend with good mates. Sorry for the long post.
Sounds like you had a great time, glad you enjoyed it love the pics (especially the relentless stickers) and the write up glad you kept her shiny side up and got it home in one piece ready for the next track day. I think those chicken strips (if you had any before) are well and truly toast now
Had non before mate but managed to muller the tyres. cannot believe how well the Dunlop Sportsmarts have held up after 3 trackday s and about 2500 road miles. Only thing I have found is the limit of their grip. But your not going to really get them slipping on the road's.
Sound fantastic, I was going to try them but I have a bit of a love affair with the interacts now, They have done night session and full day on track 2400 miles and dyno run and the back just needs replacing now ! (maybe 200 miles more) very impressed, also the slippy when new thread has scared me off lol Looking at the pics the suspension and pressures were bob on have you had your suspension set up locally or just played yourself as I am looking for someone to have a play but don't want to spend to much or travel to far
Not touch the suspension at all mate, just tried to get the tyre temps correct. was about 31 front and 29 rear worked well. getting he suspension set up is next on the list. JHS in Bristol can set your up for about £30 I think. I would like to get it sorted soon
Might pop up after they sort out the gear selection problem next week and let them have a look as £30 is very reasonable, and it will confirm if what I have done so far is ok or that I have just got used to my piss poor setting up skills
