Antisocial riding: basically anything that your average Daily Mail reader would find offensive. Fast riding: treating the NSL as if there were no limit at all in place & riding as fast as you feel is safe to do so. I've left this as a poll so people can give their 'honest' feedback without being jumped on by some of the road captains & bravado of those that peruse this wonderful section. I wanted to get peoples honest answers on a subject that people don't really like to openly admit. I wouldn't say any of my riding is dangerous (I would say that, wouldn't I), but of course it carries a higher risk- which I guess is where the buzz comes from. I voted that i like to make progress So when you're out alone, or with a group of like minded bikey mates, what's your riding like?
This "Fast riding: treating the NSL as if there were no limit at all in place & riding as fast as you feel is safe to do so." Not every minute of every ride but at least once in every ride. Otherwise why own a litre sports bike ?
agreed but not past schools, residential areas. As I said I like to make progress. I did not see 2 figures for over 50 miles when in Spain. but quiet Mways it was safe and simple.
Every time I sling my leg over I'm ashamed to say but I'm taking medication. Joke aside, I ride too fast and certainly faster than I'm capable?
I ride fast all the time, and I know I should calm it down, BUT I would not say I am ever antisocial I always say thanks if a car lets me by and I always slow down where it is needed. I think all of us benifit from riding a bike, it makes you a much better car driver in my opinion and we all learn how to read the road and conditions at pace and concentrate on what everyone around us is doing otherwise we would not last long on the road.
I do ride fast but as said we do ride 1000cc ...but never in 30 , near schools or built up areas ...........out in the country well .......enough said
of course , Built up areas im at the speed limits as thats where im going to loose my licence . Country B roads on the other hand is where im going to loose my life lol
Anti Social anyway so just a natural progression .But also a nice dude.Soz i do like minting it up but thats not the main point of shelling out 12k.
I ride with a group of lads, its always quick, but safe, we all know how each other ride's , but sometimes its just mental
I never speed in 30's or built up areas, but everywhere else I make progress, and usually fast road ride. I treat cars as a potential hazard, so overtake and filter past every one. In the morning to work, the car takes me 40-45 mins. On the bike it takes me 12 ish.
Same here Si ... 1hour commute into city centre takes me 45 mins in the car , Filtering my way through ( which after 4 years every weekday i am a champion at lol) only takes me 20 on the bike .. I got no where to park thou and last time i did take the blade in i had a guy sit on it, a guy puke behind it and kids constantly touching it so i take the car now
When I ride with the group of lads i'm normally last of the bunch, i think with age you start to realize your not immortal. Plus I'm probably slower than most of them anyway! The main thing for me is I still enjoy my riding.
For me it is a time and place thing, right time, right place I open up. My big thing is not to be a hazard to anyone else, risking my own neck is fair enough but not gambling with others. Sounds a bit pompous reading it back, but it's not mean't to be. I spent quite a few years dealing with RTA's and it really hacked me off when innocent people were killed or maimed by some reckless T***, especially when the T**** usually escaped more or less unharmed. Anyway, it's not my fault I ride fast...it's the bike's.
Been there, got the tee-shirt, had the helicopter ride, had a light-bulb moment. I voted for 'I like to make progress' (add on 'now'). JD
