I've never been a fan of the looks, but recently they have been less offensive to my eyes, so finally rode one today, and really enjoyed it. I'm looking to replace my K1300s, which is just a bit too sensible. I was after some thoughts and opinions from anyone who has had one
I just bought a Street 765 RS, rode both and went for the Street. I sold the Blade for a few reasons. A couple of the bigger reasons were not needing 190bhp on the road and the comfort for the riding I do now, which is mostly commuting. The Speed is nice but for me not over £3k nicer and I didn't need the extra poke on a naked bike. The build quality is spot on and the whole throttle, transmission, gearbox and engine smoothness is something I've not experienced on a bike since the death of carbs. The whole thing is smooth and usable, with no throttle snatch, which is very unusual for a Euro compliant bike. The RS sort of reminds me of my old 2 stroke days the way it delivers the power. Although it's oddly usable right down the rev range and then has a screaming top end rush. Took me 2 test rides to convince myself to do it and make the swap.
I have the RS and it’s mental in 3/4th gear above 8000 rpm mine is now my trackbike after doing a 2000 mile euro trip and it embarrassed a lot of bikes 22 in the group. I now need another road bike so I don’t put silly miles on the sp2 keep think of the speed triple had one a few years ago remember it being a heavy old girl but a nice ride. The new model speed is meant to be very good just trying to keep away from the dealers at the moment
I tried the new speed triple RS when i was planning to cone off the Monster1200r Actually really liked it, just enough power on the newer model and felt quite stable on the front end unlike some nakeds, if they had dine me a slightly better deal on the monster id have had it but went for the Superduke 1290r and then back to the blade SP, but unfinished business on a Speed RS
Done the older Speedy, 955i & T595 Daytona and the 675 Street and Daytona. All were great, 675’s were both awesome but for me now there’s nothing out there like my current MT10. I wouldn’t pick any of my previous bikes over it including my RR9 Blade, R1’s and Mille R. Even the Gixer 1000’s couldn’t tempt me back! If you’re in the market for a naked and can handle the looks(some can’t but I think it’s gorgeous) try one!
The MT10 is on my list to try, and after reading that I shall certainly do so before making any decisions. I don't mind the looks of it, certainly no worse than the Triumph.
Haha, good man. If you like a bike with character then the Triumph is a great bike and in isolation very good (even though I didn’t think the 13 plate I rode was any better than the 02 Speedy I had owned about 7 years back (it has a rev ceiling of around 10.5k and after getting off the Blade on to it I was disappointed as the Blade would have been pulling hard, this just hit the limiter) then I rode the Street and it blew me away. So light and ample power and it thrived on revs! chopped the blade in straight away. I started to miss a sport bike after around 18 months and swapped for a Daytona which I thought would be with me forever as it was THE perfect road bike......until I rode the MT demo in my local dealers! The rest is history. One word....mental! Last weeks MCN had a long term owners review in it where the guy was saying his mate can’t jeep up on an RSV or Tuono (can’t remember) and I read a thread from a guy on the US FZ10 forum saying he had just got his second one after part ex’ing his first for a Super Duke and promptly chopped it in against a new MT within 6 months as it was a better bike, sort of explains what you’re dealing with!
Bloody hell, @exuptoy . Keep up these posts and you'll have me abandoning my dream Daytona 765 Moto 2 rep and hopping on an MT10
